(Jeff from Topanga)		I think it's a matter of relative improvement. The Brewers have been getting by for so long by retreading journeymen--Brian Shouse, Todd Coffey, Claudio Vargas, Mark DiFelice--that seeing actual upside-oriented prospects like Axford or Braddock enter the picture certainly brings new meaning to the term 'sweet relief.' How effective they are is something we'll have to see, but it all beats Jeff Suppan. Not that everything doesn't beat Jeff Suppan, but you know what I mean. (Christina Kahrl)

(tycobb from ga)		If there's a guy in this rotation who has a lot of potential to be packaged in a more ticky-tack kind of trade to make sure there's space for the team's best talents in its rotation, it's Bush and not Claudio Vargas. That's because Bush is actually desirable, where Vargas is an extra guy having a nice camp.

The real question is whether the Brewers will identify a need--like a starting catcher--that would merit trading from some of the pitching stock in May or June. They *should*, but then giving Kendall pretty big money is one of those things rational people might have trouble working around. (Christina Kahrl)

2008-02-19 13:00:00 (link to chat)Will, could you try to clarify something? When you say a "low" yellow, what does that mean? Since there is nothing inherently high or low about colors, does a low yellow mean closer to red or closer to green? And I could be wrong, but I think in today's THR, Jay Jaffe literally uses the term "low [color]" to descibe exactly opposite phenomena: Claudio Vargas is a "low green" that could go to yellow, while Bill Hall is a "low yellow" that is closer to green. Colors have no direction! What are you guys talking about?

The thing is that I see the numbers and percentages that underly the colors, which are essentially bands. To me, a "low" yellow would be at the low end of the spectrum, a smaller number that's almost to green. If I had a player that was a yellow at 35% (33% or lower is green), then I'd call him a "low" yellow.

I'll take the heat for not explaining this more clearly to you and to Jay, who was kind enough to do a couple THRs for me this year. (Will Carroll)
