2020-05-15 13:00:00 (link to chat)Last years july2 class aside from Rodriquez, puasaon, and j Dominguez - anyone else standout this early or creating buzz?
(John e from Quest)
Erick Pena, Maximo Acosta, and Hedbert Perez have stood out, impressing in instructs and flashing big tools. Pena could develop into a 6/7/5 bat (hit/power/speed) who may stick in center field. He notably ripped a single off of a Michael Kopech heater. Acosta has received comps to a young Gleyber Torres, which is high praise. He has a well-regarded hit tool with potential average-to-above power and some speed. Perez is the son of former big-leaguer Robert Perez. He has a Tyler O'Neill-type physique (the kid is jacked), and probably similar FV grades for his tools with maybe a bit more hit. (Jesse Roche)
2020-02-21 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thoughts on Herbert Perez, Eduardo Garcia, and Luis toribio?
(Ralphie from Boulder)
Hedbert Perez is a recent 2019 J2 signing of the Brewers with Tyler O'Neill-type physique (the kid is jacked), and probably similar FV grades for his tools. Eduardo Garcia is a 2018 J2 signing for the same squad who missed most of the season due to injury. He is a glove-first defender with a decent stick, but nothing plus. Luis Toribio is a big-bodied third baseman for the Giants. He was excellent in the Arizona League (166 DRC+), despite barely tapping into the big raw power generated by his large, filled-out frame and quick bat. There is risk that he moves to first base and his hit tool is still quite raw, but he flashes promising power and patience. (Jesse Roche)
2020-02-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)Give me 5 prospects that have potential to breakout the way Julio Rodriguez, Marco Luciano, Kristian Robinson, etc did... thanks in advance!
(Frankie from NY NY)
Those three were highly regarded J2 signees, so, in a similar vein, I'd say Alexfri Planez and Johan Rojas from the 2017 class; Noelvi Marte, Orelvis Martinez, Misael Urbina, Luis Matos, and Jeferson Espinal from the 2018 class; and Jasson Dominguez, Erick Pena, Robert Puason, Luis Rodriguez, Maximo Acosta, Reginald Preciado, Bayron Lora, and Hedbert Perez from the 2019 class. (Jesse Roche)
2020-02-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)No Hedbert Perez in your ceiling-only list today. No love for him there?
(Jason from Boston)
Perez just missed the cut. His ceiling looks something like .265/25/10, with maybe a bit less hit and a bit more power. At 16, he already looks like Tyler O'Neill! (Jesse Roche)
