- 12 years/$209.3M (2023-29), including 2030-34 player option. Signed extension with Seattle 8/26/22. $15.3M signing bonus, paid within 60 days of signing. 23:$4M, 24:$10M, 25-29:$18M annually, 30-34: $90M player option paying $18M annually. 2030-34 player option may increase based on 2022-29 All-Star appearances and Silver Slugger awards: 5 years/$125M ($25M annually) with 1 MVP award and two All Star elections or selections. 5 years/$110M ($22M annually) with 10 combined Silver Slugger awards and All Star elections or selections. 5 years/$100M ($20M annually) with eight combined Silver Slugger awards and All Star elections or selections. Seattle holds a multi-year club option which Mariners must exercise or decline after the 2028 World Series. The length and value of the club option is based on Rodriguez’ finish in 2022-28 AL MVP voting: 8 years/$200M (2030-37), paid $25M annually, if Rodriguez receives no MVP votes. 8 years/$240M (2030-37), paid $30M annually, with two top 10 finishes in MVP vote. 8 years/$260M (2030-37), paid $32.5M annually, with four top 10 finishes in MVP vote. 8 years/$280M (2030-37), paid $35M annually, with 1) one MVP award and a top 5 finish in MVP vote in one other season, or 2) three top 5 finishes in MVP vote. 10 years/$350M (2030-39), paid $35M annually, with 1) two MVP awards or 2) four top 5 finishes in MVP vote. If Seattle declines its club option, both Seattle and Rodriguez hold a mutual option for 7 years/$168M (2030-36), paid $24M annually, which must be exercised or declined after the 2029 World Series. Annual award bonuses: $150,000 for MVP. $100,000 for WS MVP. $50,000 each for LCS MVP, Silver Slugger, Gold Glove, All Star election. $25,000 for All Star selection. Milestones: At signing, the largest-ever guarantee for a player with less than 1 year of Major League service time. Most lucrative contract in club history. If Seattle exercises its 10-year/$350M option, the contract would be the longest and the most lucrative in Major League history at 17 years/$469.3M (2023-39). Full no-trade protection.
