2019-10-25 12:00:00 (link to chat)I am in a dynasty league with salaries and prospects are at a premium. I have Max Scherzer but have been offered Garrett Hampson from one team or Malcom Nunez from another. Should I trade my superstar for one of these turds because he costs a high amount of pretend dollars or should I just keep my superstar so that my team is successful and relevant?
(John from Tampa)
In that kind of league if you wouldn't do it as the Nats I wouldn't do it in fantasy. Nats don't hang up immediately because they assume you are gonna name three actually good guys in addition. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2019-09-13 12:00:00 (link to chat)Is Alexander Mojica comparable to Malcom Nunez?
(Jeffrey from Detroit)
Given the concerns about Nunez's body and the production downturn stateside, I might aim higher here now. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2019-07-01 12:00:00 (link to chat)I saw a new prospect list this morning that had Dustin May at 120, behind guys like Malcom Nunez. Has his stock plummeted this year? I know you guys had him high at the beginning of the year.
(Kenny from Alsip)
He will be higher than that on our Midseason 50. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2019-02-05 17:00:00 (link to chat)Is Malcom Nunez a legit prospect or an early peaker who destroyed sub-par DSL pitching?
(Salty MFer from Mom's Basement)
somewhere in between. Trust not the vagaries of 199 PAs, no matter how good, and especially in the DSL. (Rob Arthur)
2019-02-04 16:00:00 (link to chat)Should I be excited about Malcom Nunez?
(Fernando from St Louis)
yes. (Mike Gianella)
2018-11-29 23:00:00 (link to chat)Thanks for the chat, Wilson! I've seen a fair bit of ink spilled about Julio Rodriguez and Malcom Nunez in the DSL this year, and understandably so. The former is a great athlete, excellent bat, and the latter a good athlete, with maybe an otherworldly stick. But it feels like Joerlin De Los Santos is being overlooked. Stole 30 bases in 64 games while posting a 174 wRC+, and was young for his league at just 17. The only site where I've seen a scouting report, was critical of him for being too strong and having too much speed. (Yeah, I can't wrap my head around that critique either. Trout and Harper were like linebackers coming out of high school, and that didn't seem to bother anyone.) Do you have any De.L.S. insights? Thanks much!
(Dave from Springfield)
Honestly, not really. DSL stats'll get a guy marginally on my radar, but they're honestly pretty useless for predictive purposes. My interest is piqued by the physicality, but until outside of the deepest, darkest dynasty leagues around there's no reason to get your hackles up without stateside reporting for guys like him. (Wilson Karaman)
2018-12-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)I am in a twenty team, keep forever, fantasy league. I've been a rebuilding team for a few years, but should start being competitive this year. My roster is filled with high end prospects who should get regular playing time moving forward (A. Rosario, Acuna, Soto, Ohtani, Adell etc.). I pick 10th in this year's prospect draft. Since I have so much young talent coming onto my roster, I'm looking more for a longer range high ceiling asset. Am I being a little too cute by targeting Malcom Nunez, 3B StL?
(beringstorm from Tacoma, WA)
That's a bit of a shot in the dark. There are quite a few players I'd probably pick before Nunez due to position and uncertainty with age/distance from MLB. His body doesn't suggest there's too much more raw in the tank down the line either. There are better bets for far away guys. (Kevin Carter)
2018-08-29 19:00:00 (link to chat)Hi Eddy. What can you tell us about Malcom Nunez? When do we start getting excited about a 17 year old in the DSL putting up the stats he has? Has anyone gotten a look at him so we don’t get burned by “scouting” the stat line? Heard that there were some size concerns and also curious if 1 error through 30 games at 3B means he is addressing those concerns. Thank you!
(ENVee from PA)
Man, are his numbers gaudy or what? I haven't been able to find any fresh reports on him and unfortunately we're going ot have to wait until he comes stateside next year to really assess him. If your league lets you take a flier on J2 signees right now, I'd snatch him now and wait to see what happens later. (Eddy Almaguer)
