2020-08-14 14:00:00 (link to chat) | I know this year is a little but different with no minor leagues... but who are a handful of names to grab before they breakout similar to how Julio Rodriguez, Kristian Robinson, and Marco Luciano did last year? (Freddy G from 123) | Three guys I love outside our top-100 prospects: Aaron Bracho (101), Maximo Acosta (128), Heriberto Hernandez (164). Within the top-100, Erick Pena (71), Alexander Canario (85), Orelvis Martinez (86), and Luis Matos (93) have big upside.
My ceiling-only rankings capture a lot of these names: https://www.baseballprospectus.com/fantasy/article/57095/ceiling-only-dynasty-prospect-rankings-the-top-101-of-2020/ (Jesse Roche) |
2020-04-13 12:00:00 (link to chat) | Thoughts on Heriberto Hernandez? (Enrique from Texas) | I think he makes a shallower team list (Rangers has around a half dozen dudes-mostly in the low minors-I wasn’t thrilled I had to leave off. He’s a little different than your typical toolset low minors Texas prospect in that he’s already a corner guy (with potential bat to spare) but similar long term hit tool questions (Jeffrey Paternostro) |
2020-03-27 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Who are your personal cheeseballs that you find yourself taking as fliers in fantasy leagues this year? Hitters and pitchers. Thanks! (Sandwich shop guy from Making a sandwich for your mom) | Young MLB hitter: Trent Grisham
Old MLB hitter: Kyle Seager Hitting prospect: Heriberto Hernandez Young MLB pitcher: Frankie Montas/Dinelson Lamet Old MLB pitcher: Garrett Richards Pitching prospect: RANDY DOBNAK! (Jesse Roche) |
2020-03-27 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Matos, Perdomo, or Heriberto Hernandez(Tex) more likely to be star? Points league so not too concerned with speed (Bball from MA) | Matos has the most star potential, though I LOVE Heriberto, just concerned about his defense and hit tool. (Jesse Roche) |
2020-02-14 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Hey thanks for the chat. Who are a few of your favorite break out guys this year? (sykklone from IA) | Other than the J2 guys I already mentioned, and trying not to pick the obvious guys, I'll go position-by-position:
Catcher - Miguel Amaya First Base - Bryce Ball Second Base - Miguel Hiraldo, Maikol Escotto, Keithron Moss & Kendall Simmons Third Base - Hudson Potts & Aaron Schunk Shortstop - Jose Garcia, Ryan Vilade, Maikel Garcia & Jacob Amaya Outfield - Heriberto Hernandez, Kyle Isbel, Peyton Burdick, Bryant Packard & Brayan Buelvas Pitcher - Cole Winn, Luis Medina, Tahmaj Thomas, Blake Walston, Luis Frias, Adam Kloffenstein, Daulton Jefferies, Ricky Vanasco & Yerry Rodriguez (Jesse Roche) |
2020-01-24 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Who's a prospect you think you're the highest on within the industry? And why? (George from ATL) | I tend to be a bit more conservative than many so I can always find someone who values a prospect more than me. That said, I absolutely love Heriberto Hernandez. He lacks a position, playing OF, 1B, and C last year, but he has awesome bat speed and big power (320-ft avg est FB distance according to Prospects Live). I think he'll hit enough to force his bat in the lineup no matter where he plays. Looking forward to seeing him in the South Atlantic League this year! (Jesse Roche) |
2019-08-26 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Am I going to regret cutting Heriberto Hernandez in my deep dynasty league? He was immediately picked up by the defending champion. (Jonny from Los Angeles) | That's always the worst.
I mean, you might, but striking out a quarter of the time in the AZL isn't terribly encouraging (even though he's mashing the rest of the time). (Mark Barry) |
