2020-03-31 12:00:00 (link to chat) | Zac Veen reminds me a lot of Jarred Kelenic as a prospect. Does that comp have legs to you? How would you view Veen as a dynasty asset? (Mike from Phoenix) | Keanan saw him recently and comped him to Riley Greene. I'd say Kelenic was more presently physical and more likely to stick in CF at the time of the draft. 2019-08-06 12:00:00 (link to chat) | As an evaluator when it comes to recent draftees how much does the actual professional game performance after signing influence your thoughts on them? For example CJ Abrams even though a high pick seems to be destroying it out there. Does his performance although SSS make you reevaluate your opinion on him that you had on him from before the draft? (David from Atlantis) | It matters sometimes. I'm on Adley Rutschman right now, and the "performance" hasn't been great, but all the underlying stuff looked fine. It's a long year for a college catcher. I wrote about Riley Greene for tomorrow, and that's a case where the performance has basically hewn exactly to Keanan's pre-draft report. I didn't have an opinion on Abrams pre-draft per se (Keanan was lower on him than the industry, yeah), but now that he is in the Midwest League we will get some looks an adjust as needed. Especially in the low minors performance (does not equal sign) stats all the time. (Jeffrey Paternostro) |
2019-07-19 12:00:00 (link to chat) | Riley Greene looks awfully good, so far. Who would expect to move faster through the minors, Greene or George Valera? (andy from fresno) | Generally top prep picks move faster than top IFA guys, but Valera has a very advanced hit tool and either could set their own timetable more or less. Pretty hyped to get a full six games on Greene starting this weekend. (Jeffrey Paternostro) |
2019-02-18 16:00:00 (link to chat) | Adley Rutschman or Riley Greene, who would you draft? (Mr. Fister from Arlington) | High school and college players aren't my strong suit, but I'm always a bit wary of catcher prospects. Do they get moved off the position, hurting their fantasy value? Greene seems the safer play with the better bat. But outside of fantasy context, I suppose a potential star catcher has more value, so if I was an MLB team, Rutschman. (Kevin Jebens) |
