2011-04-25 13:00:00 (link to chat)With Neftali Feliz hurt and the Rangers' bullpen in supposed shambles, would it be a good time to take a flier on Cody Eppley?
(jhardman from Apex - The Peak of Good Living)
I get the sense Texas will deal with Arthur Rhodes in the role in the short-term, but keeping an eye on Eppley is probably in your best interests in AL-only leagues. (Marc Normandin)
2011-03-02 13:00:00 (link to chat)Who closes if Feliz starts?
(johnklein from northeast)
I'm convinced they'd make a trade of some sort to add a right-handed veteran, because I guess I'm more than a little doubtful they'd go old (Arthur Rhodes or Darren Oliver) or young (Derek Holland) from what's effectively a list made up of lefties, at least as far as their best internal options. (Christina Kahrl)
2010-12-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)Am I crazy to think that the Twins can put together a darn good bullpen even with losing Crain, Guerrier, Rauch, and Fuentes (assuming they all leave)? I think it's very funny that Twins fans complain that Jose Mijares is inconsistent but also worry that Crain will leave; call for Anthony Slama and Rob Delaney for nearly two years, but now fear the bullpen will be awful when they might get a chance; and don't trust any low-cost options when a guy like Guerrier was originally claimed off waivers. If the Twins can sort through the many options, they could piece together a very effective group. That being said, any established relievers you would recommed for relatively cheap?
(russadams from St. Paul)
You're not crazy, and you can find the next Matt Guerrier. I think Grant Balfour's worth getting, and Arthur Rhodes and Chan Ho Park or even Kevin Gregg are names worth spending seven figures for. Kerry Wood, Dan Wheeler, an NRI for Justin Duchscherer... it's still a buyer's market as far as finding relief help, given the multiplicity of alternatives. (Christina Kahrl)
2010-10-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)I felt old when I compiled this list in April. Tweleve 2010 MLB players were older than me. How many will be back next year? 1 Jamie Moyer -- Phillies --18-Nov-62 2 Tim Wakefield -- Red Sox --2-Aug-66 3 Omar Vizquel -- White Sox --24-Apr-67 4 Trevor Hoffman -- Brewers -- 13-Oct-67 5 Matt Stairs -- Padres -- 27-Feb-68 6 Brad Ausmus -- Dodgers -- 14-Apr-69 7 Arthur Rhodes -- Reds -- 24-Oct-69 8 Ken Griffey Jr. -- Mariners -- 21-Nov-69 9 Mariano Rivera-- Yankees -- 29-Nov-69 10 Takashi Saito -- Braves -- 14-Feb-70 11 Jim Edmonds -- Brewers -- 27-Jun-70 12 Mark Grudzielanek -- Indians -- 30-Jun-70
(ted from the cubicle)
Most of them, I think. Next year is Wakefield's last season though. Matt Stairs wants to come back for one more year, at least. Arthur Rhodes is a reliever, so he'll pitch until he can't. (Marc Normandin)
