2019-02-06 21:00:00 (link to chat)Just traded away Trevor Larnach in a 16 team points dynasty league (16 minor league roster spots) as a pot sweetener to get Gary Sanchez. Will I be kicking myself in 2025? Should I feel better I held on to Brent Rooker as consolation?
(S. Miller from Olympic Star, IL)
Rooker is not in the same stratosphere of prospect as Larnach, but trading Larnach for Sanchez is a fine gamble. We like Larnach but I don't think he's going to be a true fantasy cornerstone ever, and Sanchez is a bit of a unicorn at his position. Sanchez won't be catching by 2025 though. - BC (Dynasty 101 Chat w/ Ben Carsley and Bret Sayre)
2019-02-06 21:00:00 (link to chat)How excited should I be about Brent Rooker? I'm dreaming of prime Josh Willingham
(Kurt from 🍕 Mia's)
"I'm dreaming of prime Josh Willingham" is not a sentence I ever expected to read in my life. I suppose that's a pretty good comp for Rooker's upside though. - BC (Dynasty 101 Chat w/ Ben Carsley and Bret Sayre)
2018-12-11 13:00:00 (link to chat)Is this Minnesota's infield in two years? 1B: Sano, 2B: Polanco, 3B: someone not currently on the team, SS: Gordon
(cooldude from Mpls)
Sano will eventually wind up at 1B/DH, although it may not be with the Twins if 2019 goes poorly. Brent Rooker is another option at first base. I'd like to see Jorge Polanco shift to second base, where I think he can be an asset defensively. Nick Gordon is less than a sure thing to be a long-term shortstop in the majors. And of course in two years the hope is that Royce Lewis will be at shortstop (or maybe third base/center field, I guess). (Aaron Gleeman)
2018-07-13 15:00:00 (link to chat)Two non-Wander Javier questions about Twins prospects: First, Brent Rooker started slow but has been crushing the ball over the last two months. Do you think he's capable of taking over the Twins 1B job within the next 18 months? Also, Akil Baddoo is pretty good, right?
(Actually in from Minnesota)
I'm writing a longer form thing about right-handed hitting first base prospects (well have been for a while, midseason list and Futures has swallowed everything). The margins for this profile are just so thin. Like the .797 OPS he put up this year so far isn't really good enough? These guys have to be 55s or there isn't a major league roster spot for them. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2018-07-24 20:00:00 (link to chat)Can Brent Rooker be Khris Davis?
(Mark from Chicago)
Probably not. Looks like he has less power but would hit for similarly low averages in the bigs. (Scooter Hotz)
2018-02-05 12:00:00 (link to chat)I know Brent Rooker isn't your type of profile, but do you believe he will hit MLB pitching?
(martin from Reno)
Maybe Rooker was actually the most divisive guy during 101 discussion. I don't think he was really in discussion, but there were staff members who thought he was a 101 guy and those that didn't think he was a top ten Twins guy. That's borne out in the Twins list of course. I fall somewhere in the middle. He did exactly what he would have to do to be a "good prospect" given his age/background. 2018 will tell us a lot more. (Top 101 with Jeffrey Paternostro)
2018-01-23 23:00:00 (link to chat)Who are your favorite breakout prospect candidates this year?
(Chris from Dallas)
He already sort of started to, but in terms of ceiling dudes Heliot Ramos is going to fly up ranks this year. Brent Rooker from last summer's draft, too.

Far as some lower ceiling dudes I like on this planet, he's basically fully cooked and should compete for a gig as soon as spring training, and I think Brian Anderson's going to gain some fans this year - unheralded rise through the ranks, but kid can hit and as some pop. Sort of like folks started getting wise to Matt Chapman during the years last year, think Anderson's got a shot to be that guy in 2018. Jeimer Candelario will be in the thick of that race, too. Ronald Guzman's a guy I didn't get a very good eval on back in the day, but I've come around on him as a nice little undervalued asset that can make his managers some money as soon as this year. (Wilson Karaman)
2018-01-11 13:00:00 (link to chat)Tristen Lutz, Brent Rooker, or Lewin Diaz for a dynasty league? I know fantasy isn't your forte, but from an offensive angle, who's bound to excel more?
(Adam from MIL)
If Rooker can stick as an outfielder (or at least enough to retain eligibility), he probably has the best balance of floor and upside in the bat. He has some big fans on staff. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2017-11-03 13:00:00 (link to chat)Should I be excited more for Brent Rooker or Lewin Diaz? Why?
(Samuel from Minn.)
Probably Rooker, similar big raw, more advanced, should move faster, a better chance he isn't a first baseman. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2017-09-29 12:00:00 (link to chat)Any thoughts on Brent Rooker? Put up good numbers but people seem to not be buying it...
(eric from los angeles)
He's been a uh, divisive figure in our early team discussions. I tend to be a tough sell on R/R corner guys. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
