2019-02-25 16:00:00 (link to chat)Who is someone outside the top 25 in prospects that could be a top 5 prospect next year?
(Tommy from Atlanta)
Wander Javier?

Really, I'm not a prospect guy. I wrote the comments for most of the Royals, so I'm biased toward MJ Melendez and Seuly Matias (aka right-handed Joey Gallo). (Jon Hegglund)
2018-09-12 13:00:00 (link to chat)Just saw that Prospects 1500 awarded Royals MJ Melendez their catcher prospect of the year. Do you agree? He had a pretty monster year and seems to have some crazy tools as a hitter.
(Jack from Columbia)
I think I still prefer Keibert Ruiz, but Melendez is certainly in the conversation. (Mark Barry)
2018-07-10 20:00:00 (link to chat)Hello! Thanks for your Q&A. My question is about Minor League catchers. It seems that we have more good ones than usual. I can name a dozen off the top of my (bald) head. Which Minor League catchers to you rate most likely to be good fantasy roster investments? Thanks!
(colonel from Oxford)
Hey Colonel, thanks for stopping by. We've had a nice little influx of catchers recently. MJ Melendez, Miguel Amaya, Keibert Ruiz, William Contreras, Ronaldo Hernandez. Good group and more I didn't name. I think I like Ruiz the best of any catcher in the minors followed by Hernandez. Ruiz is one of a handful of teens at Double-A and has a 7.7 K% (albeit mediocre production elsewhere, but he's 19!) (Eddy Almaguer)
2018-06-29 13:00:00 (link to chat)Are the Royals just stuck? MJ Melendez (love this kid's game!), Seuly Matias, and Khali Lee look like legitimate prospects, but their major league roster seems short on assets to ship out in exchange for quality young talent. Their prospect stable seems so far behind everyone else's.
(George from Columbus)
It's still a shallow system, yeah, but it's got impact talent at the top now which is an improvement and Singer and Kowar at least have some upside as college pitchers go. Maybe you get someone to bite on Whit Merrifield too, but yeah this is more a draft rebuild than a sell of rebuild, fortunately (?) they have another high pick for next year just about banked. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2018-05-25 12:15:00 (link to chat)At least as far as catching prospects go, is MJ Melendez a legitimate dynasty prospect at this point?
(Joe from KC)
Absolutely. Ben Carsley and I just added him in RDI (20-team, 40-man rosters) (Craig Goldstein)
2018-05-25 12:15:00 (link to chat)How do William Contreras and Miguel Amaya compare to MJ Melendez as far as catching prospects are concerned?
(Mike from Phoenix)
I like Melendez, Contreras, and Amaya in that order. It's obviously early days for all of them, but the tools are just so loud with Melendez. None of that should be construed as being down on the other two, especially considering Amaya's defense. I'm just holding off on buying into the offensive profile there, as I don't think he has the ceiling of the other two just yet. (Craig Goldstein)
2018-02-05 12:00:00 (link to chat)Was MJ Melendez considered?
(James from Colorado)
He was not (Top 101 with Jeffrey Paternostro)
2018-02-05 12:00:00 (link to chat)MJ Melendez or Will Smith?
(David from NH)
Smith on proximity/floor, but if you told me you preferred Melendez's upside, sure. (Top 101 with Jeffrey Paternostro)
