Brennan Davis, Geraldo Perdomo, Nolan Gorman, Heliot Ramos, Brandon Marsh, Marco Luciano, Austin Martin, Emerson Hancock, Grayson Rodriguez, Nick Lodolo, Braylen Marquez
(jepoyntz from North Carolina)
Not exactly sure whether you can only keep these players through 2023. If so, I'd cut Marquez, Rodriguez, Perdomo, and Hancock. I think Lodolo is the best bet of those arms to maximize that window. (Jesse Roche)
2021-03-12 15:00:00 (link to chat)Out of soon to be AL outfielders Jarren Duran and Brandon Marsh, who do you like better for first few years of career fantasy niceness? Are they close?
(Steve from TX)
I think for fantasy, Durran's steals make this closer than the pure offensive projection would indicate. So it might come down to exactly the shape of what you need to fill our your roster. I'd take Marsh because I think he can be a five category guy and I don't think Duran has that kind of pop (and I still don't fully buy the bat overall), but yeah I'd say for fantasy purposes it is close. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2020-05-15 13:00:00 (link to chat)When do you see Brandon Marsh coming up? How do you think he compares to Carlson, Monte Harrison, kelenic, Rodriguez etc.
(Tommy from LA)
I think Marsh arrives in 2021 at this point. He likely begins the season back in Double-A, though he should move to Triple-A pretty quickly (as soon as Jo Adell moves on to the majors). I prefer all those outfielders (except Harrison) to Marsh (Harrison really should not be part of this conversation). I view Marsh as a potential 5+/5/5+ bat, which is not too dissimilar from Dylan Carlson (5+/5+/5). Both Julio Rodriguez and Jarred Kelenic are next level in tools. At peak, I think Marsh could hit around .275/.350/.450/20/15, give or take, which is a stones throw from Carlson (.280/.360/.490/25/10). I just think he carries a bit more risk given his injury history, proximity, and production. We do really like Marsh here at BP. (Jesse Roche)
2019-12-17 13:00:00 (link to chat)Brenton Doyle gives off a Jason Werth vibe no?
(Kelly from Elm Street)
I comp'd him to Brandon Marsh in the blurb. Werth is roughly the same genus, but he was a huge dude with even bigger athletic tools. I think the quick decline in his early-30s have led people to forget just how good he was at his peak in Philly. (Colorado Rockies Top 10 Chat)
2019-08-30 16:00:00 (link to chat)Jon, this isn’t really Mike Trout. I often get frustrated with the Los Angeles of Anaheim largely because they have arguably one of the greatest positional players in history on their team in Mike Trout and they’re just never that good. Who in their minor league system is there to get excited about?
(Mike Trout from Anaheim, CA)
Well, there's this Jo Adell kid, who I'm told is pretty good.

But aside from him, ehhhhhhh maybe Brandon Marsh? Toolsy OF, pretty close to being ready. Don't know a ton about the low minors, and since the planet will be a sizzling husk by the time those guys become relevant, I'm not sure it matters. Carpe diem! (Jon Hegglund)
2019-08-06 12:00:00 (link to chat)Has Brandon Marsh done anything to move the needle this year (for better or for worse)?
(Pete from Quebec)
Not really. He's been banged up and still isn't getting the raw power into games, but I don't see his moving a ton either way (which given where he was ranked, might move him to like 104 or something, which will feel like. bigger drop than it is). (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2018-11-29 23:00:00 (link to chat)Could you give us your thoughts on Brandon Marsh, Taylor Trammel and Ryan Mountcastle?
(Chansen8895 from Santa Clara )
Love Marsh, wrote about a bunch of adjustments he made in his time at High A here: https://www.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/article/42239/notes-from-the-field-august-23/

Trammel's an awesome physical specimen, everything you want is there, now he's just gotta put it together. Mountcastle I have nothing clear-headed or rational to say about, mostly because he's an Orioles prospect and as an aficionado of #sensualbaseball I am overwhelmed by his name. (Wilson Karaman)
2018-06-15 13:00:00 (link to chat)How high on the top 100 can you see Brandon Marsh jumping over the next year?
(Fred from Pa)
He will probably make it, but I am guessing lower than other places. I just don't love the swing personally. Sometimes I'm right, sometimes I'm wrong. But I just find it hard to push those guys, even with the rest of the staff yelling in my ear. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2018-04-27 12:00:00 (link to chat)Some publications think that of non top 100 guys, Brandon Marsh has the best chance to jump up into the top 25 prospect range. Is this reasonable given his tools?
(Jason from Orem)
It's not like crazy I guess, but I was not a huge fan of the swing last year. Top 25 is like a 7/6 or maybe a 7/55 for us, and that's a big ask. Lot of season left though, and I'm willing to be convinced by our MWL guys. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2018-02-05 12:00:00 (link to chat)Is there a “Next Big Thing” out there that has the hype like Bryce Harper did when he was in high school? Someone that’s not currently in the Top 101, but will be a fast riser, and can be a high schooler, college guy, international player, or a guy in the minors. If not who will be the guy that rises the most in next years rankings like Acuna did?
(SNDestroyU from Illinois)
Harper was on the cover of Sports Illustrated as an amateur and declared a future perennial MVP candidate at 16. So, no, there is not. We talked about a few breakout candidates on the pod, but if you want a non-101 guy, Khalil Lee, Brandon Marsh (although I am personally lower on him than others), and yeah, Wander Javier. Brusdar Graterol and Chris Rodriguez are the arms that come to mind.

And a note on Acuna: I'm not one for victory-lapping, but we were well ahead of the industry on him, and that is a tribute to the work that David Lee did in the Sally in 2016. (Top 101 with Jeffrey Paternostro)
2018-01-23 23:00:00 (link to chat)What are your thoughts on Brandon Marsh? How does he compare to some of the other top OF prospects?
(cracker73 from Florida)
He can jump up into their mix right quick with a healthy effort in full-season ball. There was some uncertainty on him coming out of the draft, but he showed what he was capable of as a professional baseline last year, and the tools have always tantalized. He throws down some above-board offensive efforts in A and A+ next year, I think you'll see him bum rush some top prospect lists. (Wilson Karaman)
2018-01-11 13:00:00 (link to chat)I've heard Brandon Marsh could be a back end T100 guy already. Is that nuts?
(JoyBoy from Anaheim)
He didn't make our 101, but he'd likely make the next 50. So not nuts. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2017-09-18 23:00:00 (link to chat)Does Brandon Marsh jump into the top 100 at this time next year?
(Sam from Oakland)
I've heard a couple good reports on Marsh, he'll certainly be interesting to watch in a full(er) season capacity. He hit well in the Pioneer League (who doesn't?), so that was a good professional start for him. I think just getting reps and working through the rigors of extended play will be key for him. Top 100 next year might be a bit ambitious, but he's got the underlying talent to talk about scenarios like that if he's healthy and the tools show signs of actualizing into baseball skills next year.

I've been on a Delroy Wilson kick this week, as I am periodically want to be. Let's kick some Delroy together while we chat, yeah? Yeah. Here he is ridin' the "Beat Down Babylon" riddim: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhoWYMJR0jk (Wilson Karaman)
2017-07-25 20:00:00 (link to chat)Brandon Marsh has impressed so far, can you tell me any more about him?
(Kyle from New York)
Unfortunately no, but it looks like he's gotten off to a good start in Orem.
-Nathan (Emmett Rosenbaum & Nathan Graham)
2017-07-06 12:00:00 (link to chat)Got a favorite out of this mish mash of low level prospects? Monte Harrison, Khalil Lee, Yanio Perez, Brandon Marsh, A.Gimenez, Nolan Jones, Jake Gatewood
(Nose Pincher from Florida)
If this is a fantasy question, I'd go after Harrison's offensive upside, and he's actually one of the closer guys there to major league horizon. For prospect list purposes I think Gimenez was probably closest to making the 50, although he wasn't all that close. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2017-06-27 20:00:00 (link to chat)Brandon Marsh or Khalil Lee as a young building block in a dynasty league?
(tom from NH)
I suppose if forced to pick I'd pick Lee, but how deep a league are you in to be looking at these guys as building blocks? (Jarrett Seidler)
2017-04-05 23:00:00 (link to chat)Do you have any input to share on Brandon Marsh? Thanks.
(Blair from Detroit)
Not a ton, no. Will start at extended ST this year, and we'll just have to wait and see if he can hit and/or play centerfield. Given the state of the Angels' system, the waiting on him probably won't be the hardest part though, yunno? (Wilson Karaman)
