2020-03-16 12:00:00 (link to chat)Of the following hitters, how would you rank their 2020 MLB impact: Ke'Bryan Hayes, Jazz Chisholm, Alec Bohm, Daulton Varsho, Monte Harrison, Jesus Sanchez?
(Craig from Chicago)
I am curious to see how service time stuff plays out in a shortened season because that's gonna play into this, but assuming somewhat normal service resumed: Bohm, Hays, Harrison, Sanchez, Chisholm, Varsho. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2020-03-02 12:00:00 (link to chat)If you looked at you top prospect list and picked five guys who are going to be called up and have an impact this year.....who would you pick?
(Charles from New Mexico)
Adell, Lux and Robert are the obvious ones. Kieboom. Jarrett would want me to mention Nick Madrigal. If you want some deeper, sleeper cuts, I'd lean Jazz Chisholm and Alec Bohm (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2020-02-21 13:00:00 (link to chat)Do you believe in the new and Improved Jazz Chisholm (decrease in k%)
(Willie from Akron)
I would not put much weight in 94 plate appearances for Jacksonville. Chisholm still had plenty of whiffs (via Fangraphs--16.5% SwStr). Prior to the trade, he actually had less whiffs (15.7% SwStr). I still think he is the same hitter who will see his strikeout rate climb or fall based on his approach. It is artificially higher than it should be because he works deep counts. A bit more aggression would do him good. Of course, if he does not reduce that whiff rate, he is likely going to be a .230-.250 hitter long-term. (Jesse Roche)
2019-12-03 13:00:00 (link to chat)Will Jazz Chisholm be able to improve on or at least overcome his huge K rate? If so, what is realistic timetable for him?
(UH from Durham, NC)
That's going to be the defining question of the profile. I think he will make enough contact to let everything else play, but if I had the answer to this I'd be spending my days getting yelled at by Gary Denbo or something. (Miami Marlins Top 10 Chat)
2019-12-03 13:00:00 (link to chat)Guy in my Ottoneu league has been trying to peddle Jazz Chisolm for a "stud." Is he being realistic? Chisolm seems an awful lot like Lewis Brinson (all perceived "ceiling" and "upside" but no floor at all) but at shortstop, which isn't even a premium fantasy position anymore.
(Mike from Phoenix)
He's risky, so it depends on your risk tolerance I guess, I just really enjoy the Jazz Chisholm experience and I find having strong takes on his fantasy value or whatever needlessly reductive. (Miami Marlins Top 10 Chat)
2019-09-27 12:00:00 (link to chat)How high are you on Jeremiah Jackson? There seems to be a lot to like about him and a few things that give some pause.
(Tom from CA)
He's Jazz Chisholm the year before we went in hard on Jazz Chisholm, if that helps. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2019-09-27 12:00:00 (link to chat)I still predict greatness for Jazz Chisholm. Ayyyyyyyy!
(The Fonz from Milwaukee)
To be clear, I am extremely still in on Jazz Chisholm, as Jarrett Seidler can attest to when I tried to get him on the Midseason 50 when he was hitting under .200. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2019-08-28 12:00:00 (link to chat)Jazz Chisholm will be...bust? future star? somewhere in between?
(Buddy from Peoria, IL)
Somewhere in between is a big swath of land, but if I had to pick one, I'd go star still. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2019-08-23 15:30:00 (link to chat)Colton Welker or Jeremiah Jackson? Jackson just became available in my dynasty league and he had been on my watch list for a few weeks. Feel like Welker is higher floor, Jackson is higher ceiling.
(Logan from Kennebunk, ME)
Welker for me, in fantasy. Jackson was a guy I liked out of the draft but the hit tool has serious question marks. Maybe similar to what we see of Jazz Chisholm right now. Power is real but will he make enough contact. I think it's fair to say the ceiling is higher there, but I think Welker is the play. (Craig Goldstein)
2019-06-07 12:00:00 (link to chat)Only have a spot for one in a dynasty. Contention window 2-3 years out. George Valera, Alek Thomas, Dylan Carlson, Jazz Chisholm, Keibert Ruiz, Daulton Varsho, Nolan Jones, Trevor Larnach, Xavier Edwards, Shane Baz, Michel Baez, Or Seth Beer. Also, I wish I had 10 more roster spots
(KJ from Providence)
I'd probably go with Carlson or Larnach. Keibert is the best pure prospect here, but also might not be a huge fantasy factor. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2019-05-06 23:45:00 (link to chat)Jazz Chisholm is doing the Just Dingers thing but literally. What the heck do you make of that?
(Mike from Albany)
Sorry, my 6-year-old just came staggering out of his room in a fugue state and I had to pilot him to the toilet and back in for landing.

Well, he's very young for AA and already had an aggressive grip-and-rip approach last year when he was very young for High-A, so not entirely surprising to see that carry over. I broke down the pros and cons of the bat last summer, seems to still make sense: https://www.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/article/41658/monday-morning-ten-pack-the-july-promotions/ (Wilson Karaman)
2019-05-20 12:00:00 (link to chat)Jazz Chisholm is off to an uneven start this year. Anything you can share on him so far?
(Buddy from Peoria, IL)
The approach was always gonna get tested at Double-A and he’s going to have to make adjustments. The power still playing I keeps me optimistic, as does his relative age and the strong SS glove. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2019-03-15 16:00:00 (link to chat)How do you do Mark. Question regarding two prospects in Jazz Chisholm & Bubba Thompson. In a vacuum do you prefer one over the other or are the nearly equal to you for fantasy?
(Bobby Ray from ‘Merica)
I think they're both pretty exciting, but gimme Jazz. (Mark Barry)
2019-01-23 12:00:00 (link to chat)Jazz Chisholm had 28.4% and 32.5% K rates over two A ball levels last season. Though his ranking is nice why is he a better bet than Isaac Paredes (understand Paredes might/will move off SS) or O'Neil Cruz?
(Steve from NJ)
Chisholm is a much much better defensive shortstop than either and those K-rates came with .513 slugging. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
