2020-01-29 13:00:00 (link to chat)Which one of these teams is closest to (or in your opinion, within) the top five in the NL: The Diamondbacks or the Phillies
(one of those new, awful new era hats from Montana)
Give me the DBacks. I really like what they've done in terms of depth. The Phillies have a lot of upside but it relies on their topline guys staying healthy. I think people are underestimating what Arizona has now at the upper levels. Their flashy guys are further off, but they have a bunch of multipositional types to cover injury and their starting pitching depth is really impressive. Corbin Martin will be healthy at some point, Alex Young was really good last year in limited time, Duplantier, Widener...it's a lot of guys to cycle through (and help the bullpen if needed). (Craig Goldstein)
2020-01-31 13:00:00 (link to chat)Last two keepers in a midsized 5x5 h2h dynasty league - pick from Jordan Lyles, Carlos Rodon, Alex Young, Randy Dobnak, Austin Voth. Or should I dump all the pitchers and keep Seth Beer and Leody Taveras? I'm finding myself unnaturally attracted to Dobnak....
(James from Toledo)
I would dump them all and keep Beer and Taveras. Of the arms, we are highest on Rodon, but I also like Lyles a good bit. I drafted Dobnak in P365XDL this offseason at 936th overall so that tells you what the industry thinks of him. If he wins a starting job, his leash will be very short in Minnesota and his high-contact ground-ball approach does not normally provide a ton of fantasy value, especially if he is getting hit. Of course, if you want a high-end Uber driver, he is your man! (Jesse Roche)
2019-07-19 12:00:00 (link to chat)3 decent starts now for Alex Young...FIP shows he’s obviously getting lucky, but it’s not bad (3.8) his K/9 and BB/9 is roughly in line with his minor league record. Is this just a case of “no book” or is this maybe real?
(bpalee from DC)
I dunno yet. Remains to be seen if he can get away with throwing his fastball as little as he does. It's a good slider, but I like to see these guys go through the league twice before I really buy in. He always had backend starter potential though, and the advanced metrics are more in line with that potential outcome. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
