2021-04-30 13:00:00 (link to chat)I have an open spot to stash some upside in 14 team h2h weekly Dynasty Points format. My team is deep (especially in SP) and built to win so I am looking to add a piece with a high ceiling. Some possible adds: Brendan Rodgers Noelvi Marte Brandon Marsh Royce Lewis Jordan Hicks Garrett Whitlock Tony Gonsolin Corbin Martin Justin Dunn Any stand out Jesse? Thanks
(dylanrox from PDX)
If you are looking for a high-upside piece that may pop this year, I would consider Rodgers, Marte, or Marsh. Rodgers will be up as soon as he recovers from his most recent injury (it is getting tiresome). The Rockies are in disarray, and I imagine he will be given every opportunity to stick. Plus, you may be able to stash him on an IL spot in the short term. Other than Rodgers, Marte has huge upside and it'll be interesting to see where the Mariners assign him in the coming days (probably Low-A). With a strong start, his value may sky rocket. Finally, Marsh also may arrive later this year, though the emergence of Jared Walsh in RF limits that opportunity. As such, I would probably target Rodgers or Marte (or both) at this point. (Jesse Roche)
2020-12-04 12:00:00 (link to chat)Now that Brendan McKay and Jared Walsh are ‘specialized’, only Shohei Ohtani and Michael Lorenzen are MLB 2-way players. Are there any current prospects who are potential 2-way players?
(ari blum from NY)
I think you need to look for more of a Michael Lorenzen type rater than a guy who is above-average at both hitting and pitching. William Holmes for the Angels and Tanner Dodson for the Rays are the first two that come to mind. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2020-09-30 13:00:00 (link to chat)Totally different prospect paths: Would you rather have Jared Walsh or Evan White play 1B for you for the next 4 years?
(The Colonel from Pasadena, CA)
I think White will be better with the bat and is a special glove at 1B, but I'm not really clear *how long* it'll take him to do that. He was rushed to the majors. I think I'd still take White, but Walsh can certainly hit. (Craig Goldstein)
2020-09-25 16:00:00 (link to chat)In a 14 team weekly h2h dynasty points league which of these players would you roster going into next season for a club well-positioned to win now and going forward - Nate Lowe, Hunter Dozier, Randy Arozarena and Jake Cronenworth are all currently on my roster. Available are Hampson, A Riley, McMahon, Jesus Aguilar, Jared Walsh, Brendan Rodgers, Willie Calhoun and Leody Taveras. I am also currently rostering Oneil Cruz and wondering if I should hold on a bit longer given his uncertain legal status. My current prospects include Vaughn Brujan Cruz and KRobInson. Prospects still available include Alek Thomas Brennen Davis Jordan Groshans and Corbin Carroll. Thanks for considering the question, Dylan
(dylanrox from Philly)
Some very enticing options there. For the MLBers, I really like Calhoun and Taveras--they'll be on a bad Texas team next year, but they should be centerpieces in that lineup. I would get in on Riley; the power upside is worthwhile even if the average will kind of suck. And I'd get in on Rodgers as well--we just haven't seen a healthy version of him for an extended run in the majors. Hampson and McMahon haven't really wowed, even with the Coors advantage, Walsh feels a bit flash-in-the-pan (but I'm prepared to be wrong there!), and Aguilar could be OK for a couple more years, but his skills should be easy enough to find. Of the prospects, I am heavy into Carroll, though I like all those names. I'd probably wait on Cruz's situation for a few weeks before cutting, but it isn't looking good right now. (Jon Hegglund)
2019-12-13 12:00:00 (link to chat)Among those non-big names in 2019 draft, Tristin English really caught my eye, I think his bat is real and his tools indicate that he will be given chance at position other than 1B. How do BP evaluate this kind of prospect?
(fountainness from Taiwan)
Projecting these kind of guys is tough. As just a third round uh, free-swinging college first baseman, he's interesting but not really in list consideration. Defensive flexibility would help in terms of a major league bench role, and he'd also be an interesting candidate for a Jared Walsh type two-way role. But all of that increases variance and development time. (Arizona Diamondbacks Top 10 Chat)
2019-10-02 13:00:00 (link to chat)Who of these relatively unheralded, defense-limited sluggers do you think has best chance to be an impact player in majors: Jared Walsh, Jaylin Davis, Sheldon Neuse, Pavin Smith, Luken Baker? I'm trying to predict an Aquino-like jump.
(Josh from NYC)
I'm encouraged but the jump Smith has made, getting more balls in the air. His problem was always a flat bat path, to my eye. Second choice would be Davis. (Craig Goldstein)
