2021-03-12 15:00:00 (link to chat)Thank you for these chats. They're always enjoyable and informational. Anyway, what do you think are the chances of Myles Straw being the Astros' starting CF for the entire season? Also, does Franchy Cordero have a realistic chance of being an everyday player for the Red Sox?
(Rhino Hearn Fan Club from Somers, CT)
Higher than they should be. It's a little weird that their homegrown World Series MVP outfielder wasn't on the radar at all for a long term deal (and he didn't get a super exorbitant deal), but I suppose this happened with Cole too. Straw is a good fourth outfielder that is going to be stretched as a regular, and they don't have a ton of high minors position player depth to backfill. I expect Franchy will play more or less every day until Duran is ready at which point I'd guess he is the odd man out. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2020-03-02 12:00:00 (link to chat)Which of these 3 players has the best chance to be a star someday: Jake Fraley, Trent Grisham, Kyle Lewis or Myles Straw (that's 4, not 3, but whatever)?
(Jurgen Klock from Riverpool)
Yeesh, Grisham has been the best in the majors, but not that great, and he's not a guy I'm super buying, all that said, probably Grisham. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2019-11-15 13:00:00 (link to chat)Do you think Myles Straw ever gets a chance for consistent playing time in Houston? Or would he have to change organizations? So far, they haven't seemed interested in trading him, but I don't know how they see him fitting in.
(James from Providence)
Back when the Astros were linked to Syndergaard trade rumors I was extremely sure he had future Met written all over him as part of that deal. He's certainly a change of scenery candidate, but he's also a very, very useful bench piece for a contender like Houston. I'm sure they'd be willing to part with him if it came to it, but I don't think they'd see it as imperative. He's worth the 25-man spot to them even if it doesn't really give him a chance to show what he might have. (Houston Astros Top 10 Chat)
