2019-02-25 16:00:00 (link to chat) | Jon,
Who gets the majority of the starts for the Orioles this year at SS, and does it matter? Is Rule 5 pick-up Richie Martin worth anything? Is there upside for any of their OF's, like Mullins or Hayes? Thank you! (Bob from NJ) | Oh, man, why does this feel like a sick joke whose punch line is "Alcides Escobar." It doesn't matter. Nothing matters. Eat at Arby's.
Richie Martin is an AL-only dart throw. Mullins could flirt with 15/15, he'd be the only Oriole OF I'd look seriously at in a mixed league. (Jon Hegglund) |
2018-12-19 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Mark,
Is Richie Martin the answer for the Orioles at SS for the long haul or is he just a stop-gap? What do you see for him in 2019? Was he the best choice for first pick of the Rule 5 draft?
Thanks! (Mr. Tibbs from Philly) | I don't know enough to say if he was the best choice for #1, but Martin has been a name in prospect circles for awhile, so it will be fun to see him get a chance to play. He could be a sneaky good end game option for speed too, and if his contact rates transfer, he'll be a nice piece. (Mark Barry) |
2016-09-29 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Was Richie Martin's late season surge for real? (Ford from Layover in KC) | Oh yeah, you can be excited about him, too. (Christopher Crawford) |
2016-09-21 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Does Richie Martin ever hit enough to be a full time player for the A's? (Dustin from Arlington) | I don't think so. (Brendan Gawlowski) |
2015-12-01 14:00:00 (link to chat) | Of the following crew of current shortstops how many, if any, can stick at the position: Franklin Barreto, Chad Pinder, Yairo Munoz, Richie Martin, and Mikey White? (Jack from San Jose ) | This is a GREAT question. We are starting this chat off with a GREAT question. I would say all but Pinder have a realistic chance of staying at shortstop. If I was betting on which ones would, however, I'd say Martin and Barreto. Pinder will play it as a utility guy, and the same to White, but I can't see it regularly. (Christopher Crawford) |
