2020-09-25 16:00:00 (link to chat) | For the weekend, Wilmer Flores (2 games) or Ty France (3 games)? (J from NY) | France is hotter, and the Giants face four tough Padres righties. I think you say "oui" to France. (Jon Hegglund) |
2020-09-02 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Which team struck your favorite deal and why? (Jimmy Nutron from Space) | While I really like the Mike Clevinger trade for the Padres (and I think it is a perfectly adequate haul for the Indians), my favorite deal was another Padres trade, which I like for the Mariners. Here is the deal:
Padres acquire C Austin Nola, RHP Austin Adams and RHP Dan Altavilla in exchange for OF Taylor Trammell, C Luis Torrens, RHP Andres Muņoz and INF Ty France
Now, Austin Nola is a very valuable piece. His bat appears legit, he is a solid defender, and he is under team control through 2026 (despite being nearly 31 years old). However, the value of that team control is questionable given his age and lack of much track record.
For Nola, the Mariners snagged Taylor Trammell (broken swing but tooled up prospect with big potential), Andres Munoz (broken arm but electric when healthy), Ty France (good hitter with uncertain defensive home), and Luis Torrens (decent enough replacement for Nola with team control). I think it is a home run for the Mariners. All three hitter may be starters next year, and Munoz may close at some point next year. Love it! (Jesse Roche) |
2019-10-23 14:00:00 (link to chat) | Ty France or Luis Urias- urias with more hype and France with unbelievable AAA numbers. Who do you like -a) b) or c) none of the above? (Ray Kroc from San diego) | I'm gonna stick with Urias. I appreciate the France numbers but there are some complicating factors (where he plays, the Triple-A ball, etc.). If you want to ignore the ball issue because it's the same as the majors, I'll understand certainly but I think the environs in the PCL help that skill set play even more. I hope I'm wrong, France is fun, but I question the sustainability. (Craig Goldstein) |
2019-06-10 20:00:00 (link to chat) | Ben, I need to create 3 or 4 roster spots in my MILB roster. (Dynasty, salary cap, H2H, 14 category). Are any of these guys worth holding: Casey Golden, Kevin Cron, Ty France, Mariel Bautista, Moises Gomez, Kelvin Gutierrez, Corey Ray, Kevin Smith, Scott Moss & Jean-Carlos Mejia? Thanks. (slappy123 from Charlotte) | I would not be too concerned about dropping any of those guys, honestly. I'd probably be most inclined to keep Ray thanks to name value/proximity, but I'm not really big on him, either. Also, I know Golden is a Rockie but he's like 90 years old. (Ben Carsley) |
2019-05-20 12:00:00 (link to chat) | I'm in a 16-team dynasty, salary cap league, H2H 14 categories, with 50 milb rosters. I have grabbed a bunch of call-ups this year including Josh Fuentes, Bryan Reynolds, Ty France, Kelvin Gutierrez and Luis Rengifo.Any here I should sign to a rookie contract when he hits his rookie minimums?
Christian Walker just hit his minimums and I inked him to a rookie deal. Will I regret it or is he for real?
thanks (slappy123 from Charlotte, NC) | Ah well. Rengifo is the best combination of talent/path to consistent playing time here. Walker I am not complete sold on but I always wait as long as I can on overaged breakout corner dudes. (Jeffrey Paternostro) |
