DateQuestionAnswer
2016-01-21 19:00:00 (link to chat)Monte Harrison or Derek Hill?
(Isaac from Akron)
I'll go Harrison. (George Bissell)
2016-01-20 13:00:00 (link to chat)What are your thoughts on Derek Hill? I know he has crazy speed, but will he hit enough to be a factor or will his defensive value carry him?
(JT from Alabama)
I think so. He got off to a disaster of a start but he was starting to hit before the injury. Still think he's easily the best offensive player in the system. That may not be saying a whole heck of a lot, I know. (Christopher Crawford)
2015-11-18 13:00:00 (link to chat)Happy to see y'all stuck with Derek Hill near the top. He could still be an impact top of the order talent if he stays healthy.
(Tony from Escanaba)
This is correct. Hill was really figuring things out before the injury, and even if the bat is only a 45, he's going to be a really good player because of the speed/defense. There's no other non-pitching prospect that's even close to his ceiling. (Christopher Crawford)
2015-11-18 13:00:00 (link to chat)Hey Chris thanks for the chat! I was just curios, how do Derek Hill's long limbs help him stay short to the ball? That seems odd but I wanted to hear your thoughts. Thanks again!
(Daniel from Detroit)
Hi Daniel, thanks for stopping by. Hill's limbs don't help him stay short to the ball, his swing path and keeping his hands in on the swing do. The long limbs help him get extension on pitches on the outer half, certainly, but it's not a "long limbs help him do this" thing. (Christopher Crawford)
2015-06-08 13:00:00 (link to chat)Tough to know at 22, but any late word on who the Tigers may be targeting?
(Chris from Detroit)
I've heard mostly college guys, but I heard mostly college guys when they took Derek Hill, so that doesn't mean a lot. Jon Harris, Kyle Funkhouser, and any college arm that slips makes sense here. (Christopher Crawford)
2015-06-02 18:00:00 (link to chat)Dynasty question: Would you trade Derek Hill for Shane Greene? I'm rebuilding so I would lean Hill but I also have no pitching... Thanks!
(Alex from Mississippi)
I'd keep Hill here and see if you can get something better. Especially if you're in a rebuild. (Mauricio Rubio)
2015-04-29 20:00:00 (link to chat)Does Derek Hill have legit fantasy upside or is it more real-life upside? What's his best case scenario? 40 SB with a .270 average and 10 HR?
(Michael from Boston)
Nope, the fantasy upside is absolutely legit. 30-plus stolen bases with the possibility of getting to fringe-average power? That's a big deal in this offensive environment. (Bret Sayre)
2015-04-29 20:00:00 (link to chat)Someone is dying for some prospects, and also happens to have George Springer on his team. I can offer him Brad Zimmer, Brett Phillips, Derek Fisher, Matt Wisler, D.J. Peterson, Derek Hill, and some other top-90 MLB OF's like Crawford and Fowler. Which of those guys should I give him for Springer?
(Danny from OK)
I'd trade Zimmer while his value is hot. You'd probably have to give up less overall that way. (Bret Sayre)
2015-04-06 20:15:00 (link to chat)Do you think Derek Hill could be someone who could become a top 50 prospect this year?
(Mike from NY)
I think that's aggressive because I think he could struggle to get the bat going immediately. He's still someone I'm quite high on, but there are going to be flashier guys that push him outside of the top 50. Doesn't mean he's not just as good, he might just not show it yet. (Craig Goldstein)
