2020-02-28 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Hey Jesse thanks for the chat. Can you rank these four pitchers for the back end of a rotation in a deep categories league please, Jordan Yamamoto,Spencer Turnbull, Brad Keller and Tyler Beede, they all have nice pitchers parks to call home, and all seem pretty similar, any insights .Cheers. (boatman44 from Liverpool) | (1) Yamamoto, (2) Keller, (3) Turnbull, and (4) Beede. I think Yamamoto could surprise. His stuff is sneaky good. (Jesse Roche) |
2019-10-02 13:00:00 (link to chat) | What is Jordan Yamamoto's ceiling? Strong finish! (Ghost of Jason Parks from ~~~) | Pure ceiling? I'd say is like a high three, but I might be underestimating the damage he can do in a five and dive type role. (Craig Goldstein) |
2019-09-06 12:00:00 (link to chat) | What OFP/Likely would you give Jordan Yamamoto now? (The Colonel from Pasadena, CA) | So that model breaks down somewhat once you are in the majors, it's meant to project a range of major league outcomes based on future growth/development. That's not to say players don't improve in the majors, they do, but now you have much more useful performance to bake in since major league performance is the ultimate goal. Anyway, I still think Yamamoto is a fourthish starter, somewhere around 45 or 50. Although anytime I see the phrase "right forearm strain" I'm bumping the risk factor. (Jeffrey Paternostro) |
2019-08-14 13:00:00 (link to chat) | There have been a few SP that came out of nowhere (at least for me) that look quite good (perhaps some BABIP luck or SSS). What OFP/Likely grades would you give: Zach Plesac, Zac Gallen, Aaron Civale, Jordan Yamamoto, Cal Quantrill. (The Colonel from Pasadena, CA) | Off the top of my head:
Gallen: 60/55
Yamamoto: 50/45
Quantrill: 60/50
I'm holding off on answering the Cleveland guys. I was just talking about them (and Bieber) and I need to dig in on what the coaching staff is doing to unlock these guys and if I view it as sustainable. (Craig Goldstein) |
2019-04-17 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Zac Gallen. Jordan Yamamoto. Braxton Garrett. This future Marlins rotation is going to be dangerous before long. (Mark from Marlins Park) | I discussed Gallen already and I've heard positive things on Yamamoto, but I don't think this is exactly a three-headed monster. If you buy the changes on Gallen are lasting ones, you could *maybe* squint and see a 2. Garrett has a long way to go and injuries in his past, and Yamamoto is more of a back-end five-and-dive type to me, even with the good reports.
Also, the current Marlins rotation is dangerous, they're just a danger to their fielders is all. (Craig Goldstein) |
2019-03-04 16:00:00 (link to chat) | You mentioned you all have guys you like more or less than everyone else - who are some prospects you are higher on than the consensus? (Gary Mack from in the back) | I like the Yankees' Michael King a lot and I like Jordan Yamamoto a good bit as well. I'd likely have both in or near my personal Top 101. On the hitting side, I'm a believer in the adjustments Corey Ray made at AA last season and I liked what I saw of Nate Lowe a lot. They would both be higher for me. (Scott Delp) |
