2017-05-18 13:00:00 (link to chat)I know you used to be high on Luis Carpio and Ali Sanchez; did they impress at all in your looks this past week?
(Ted from NJ)
Both were disappointing to varying degrees. Will have notes on both soon at BP Mets. Sanchez especially looked like a borderline non-prospect. Carpio I am giving a bit longer leash because of his age and the recent shoulder issue, but the shoulder issue might have sapped a bit of the bat too. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2017-02-14 12:00:00 (link to chat)Does a healthy and productive Luis Carpio become a sleeper for the 2018 top 101?
(Rick from Savannah)
The 101 is not a personal pref list, and I think the shoulder injury may move him off shortstop--where he wasn't a slam dunk to stick anyway--that makes it a tough 101 profile without like Isan Diaz's raw, Happ's floor, or Barretto's broader base of skills. (The Top 101 Prospect Chat with Jeffrey Paternostro)
2016-09-07 19:00:00 (link to chat)Jarrett, great chat man, thanks for going so long- I love all this Mets talk. What do you think happens to Luis Carpio next year? Paez and Woodmansee seem like Colombia MIF. You think Carpio goes to PSL. On the topic of Carpio, is he a first division regular? Does a strong first half next year put him on midseason top 100s?
(Terry from Teaneck)
Really have to see what the arm and fielding looks like coming back from the injury. Paternostro loved him to a disgusting level in Kingsport and would yell at me if I don't give him first division upside.

I suspect Carpio opens as Columbia's shortstop or second baseman. Woodmansee and Paez are the types of guys where they could get an early start on getting reps at other positions for a potential future utility home, or one of them could get bumped to PSL. (Jarrett Seidler)
2016-06-07 12:00:00 (link to chat)Jeffrey. Are there any Low Minor Mets Prospects you are higher on then others who haven't been discussed?
(Alexei from At Work)
I would assume Ali Sanchez, Desmond Lindsay, and Luis Carpio are fairly well-known nowadays. I liked Harol Gonzalez in Kinsport last year, but I don't know if the frame holds up as a starter and it is far more polish than projection. Nabil Crismatt has a chance to make a major league pen. I liked what I saw from Max Wottell in a brief GCL look. Arnaldo Berrios is fun as a mini-Baez that will never hit even as much as maxi-Baez. I guess Raphael Ramirez is my guy, he is super-raw, but it's a true CF profile with some potential pop. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2016-04-12 18:00:00 (link to chat)BP seems to be hyping Luis Carpio, with Dilson Herrara getting lost in the shuffle. Your 2016 Organizational Rankings mentioned the injured Carpio, not Herrera, and Herrera somehow got left off your list of the top 175 players under 25 years old, which seems more like an oversight rather than an intentional snub. I think Herrera is a victim of not having Rookie status, so he was left of the Mets' top prospect list. Herrera looks to me like a 3 win player in a few years. Am I missing something?
(Fielding from Manhattan)
Carpio has substantially higher upside than Herrera, in my humble estimation. Herrera is a nice player, I think a three-win player is asking for a little too much. (Christopher Crawford)
