2019-08-02 16:00:00 (link to chat)I keep saying his name over and over. I dig some of the moves Farhan made at the deadline. Tell me all about Mauricio Dubon. Will we see him in the majors soon?
(Mauricio Dubon Superfan from Sacramento )
I thought we would see him, like, yesterday, until Zaidi found a Scooter-Gennett-sized coin on the street right before the deadline. Dubon is probably a utility guy long-term, but could be a good #2 hitter in all the ways that Joe Panik used to be. (Jon Hegglund)
2019-07-17 13:00:00 (link to chat)Craig: Love your chats. I'm in a kpr. pts. league and decided to become a seller at the trade deadline (7/15). I acquired Mauricio Dubon along with my trade partner's #1 in next year's draft. It's a 12 keeper league, so I traded Didi to clear out some of my MI types. I still have K. Marte, K. Hiura, C. Seager and C. Kieboom on my prospect bench. I have N. Pearson on my prospect bench. With Montas's suspension, I'm probably only keeping two SPs. Is there any young starter that's flying under the radar right now that you'd recommend for deep leagues? Thanks!
(balticwolf from Bethesda MD)
I don't think Dubon should be cracking a top 12 keepers especially with those guys ahead of him. As far as starters, I'm not sure if you mean prospects or MLB starters but assuming the former, I am coming around on Edward Cabrera for Miami. Sean Hjelle is a lower profile name that is closer to the majors. (Craig Goldstein)
2017-09-18 23:00:00 (link to chat)Your thoughts on Mauricio Dubon?
(Carlo from Oakland)
Nice little player. I caught him for a couple games last year and dug him: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=30311

May end up more utility guy than starter, though I think the latter role's still on the table, and he could provide really nice value in the former. (Wilson Karaman)
2017-03-22 20:00:00 (link to chat)Thanks Jarrett. Does Mauricio Dubon have the tools to be a first-division starter at 2B, maybe even an occasional all-star? Or is that too high for his ceiling?
(Keith from Farmington, CT)
Heck, I haven't given up on him defensively at shortstop yet, not even close. I hate the word "ceiling" but yeah, he could be a good starting middle infielder if things work out. (Jarrett Seidler)
2015-06-22 13:00:00 (link to chat)Rank the Greenville infielders in order of wishing they were Phillies: Michael Chavis, Rafael Devers, Mauricio Dubon, Javier Guerra, and Yoan Moncada? (I put them in alphabetical order for you to avoid any cognitive bias based on how they initially appeared)
(Steve from Phila)
Love this question. I'll take Devers, Moncada, Guerra, Chavis, Dubon. I love Devers. He's got that innate bat speed and barrel feel I was talking about earlier. It's just natural and pure. Mondada is great for the obvious reasons we've talked about. I also love Guerra. He's a stud and a legit big league shortstop defensively, and he has more pop than you'd expect from his thin frame. I've seen him go out opposite field and it's impressive.

It's too bad the Red Sox have played themselves out of the need for Cole Hamels, because that's a system deep enough for the Phillies to make their demands and actually have them obliged. (Jeff Moore)
2015-05-22 13:00:00 (link to chat)I'll be in greenville tonight, anything I should keepan eye on at the game?
(teddy from lexington)
For starters, check out my reports on the following players:

Rafael Devers http://www.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/eyewitness_bat.php?reportid=217
Javier Guerra http://www.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/eyewitness_bat.php?reportid=214
Michael Chavis http://www.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/eyewitness_bat.php?reportid=220
Mauricio Dubon http://www.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/eyewitness_bat.php?reportid=213
Dedgar Jimenez http://www.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/eyewitness_pit.php?reportid=257

One thing I am specifically intrigued by is the progression of Devers at 3B. How is the footwork? Is the first step lagging and lacking the instinctual necessity for a ball down the line? Is it choppy and causing him to be out of position when he attempts to field a ball? Those were my issues when I watched him play, and could ultimately push him to 1B if there are not improvements. I'm likely on the lower end of the spectrum with his defense, but I am not alone. I've talked with scouts about his defense and the opinion has generally been split.

Oh, and check out that guy Yoan Moncada. Unfortunately, I missed him by a week. (Tucker Blair)
