2019-06-05 21:00:00 (link to chat) | Yeah I'm back with another, how long will my beloved Indians take to promote Bobby Bradley, his strikeout % is unseemly I know , but we need some THUMP in the middle of our order surely? (boatman44 from Liverpool) | It's hard to thump when you don't make contact, unfortunately. That said, I think it's worth seeing if he can be better than Jake Bauers or any one of the other three to four replacement level or worse bats they have in their current lineup. (Mr. President Bret Sayre) |
2019-05-10 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Would you rather have Jake Bauers or Mazara in fantasy? (Lenny from Tulip in the jungle) | That's really close. I slightly lean Mazara, but would sure love both to hit for a little more power. (Mark Barry) |
2019-03-08 16:00:00 (link to chat) | Not a fantasy question per se, but why haven't Cleveland sent Bradley and Chang to Colorado, for the services of Raimel Tapia. He is clearly not loved or wanted among the rocky mountains, and they do like big boppers, surely Cleveland would be a whole lot better in the outfield, with him in it, Who says no? (boatman44 from Liverpool) | I have no problem with Cleveland adding an OF, though I actually don't mind Leonys Martin and Jake Bauers. Greg Allen may get playing time too, which is good for us fantasy managers. Then you have Zimmer and Naquin who can't stay healthy. Luplow is a long-term investment but doesn't help the Indians as much in 2019. Tapia could make sense. But I don't think Colorado wants Bobby Bradley, a bat-first player who struck out a ton at Triple-A. And then you throwin in Yu-Cheng Chang, another strikeout king with poor defense. Granted that Tapia is just a fourth outfielder, but they'll probably want players with more than one tool. (Kevin Jebens) |
2019-02-04 16:00:00 (link to chat) | What do you think of Jake Bauers this year - anything to suggest a break out? In terms of fantasy, for OBP leagues, similar to guys like Bour? Choi? (Jonathan from CLE) | I think he could be OK, but he really got exposed in the second half and even in OBP leagues that 281 OBP isn't good (small sample size, i know). I like him as a platoon player. I think of those three I lean Choi. I'm not sure how much Bour is going to play unless the Ohtani injury/recovery really drags out. (Mike Gianella) |
2018-07-06 13:00:00 (link to chat) | I’m in a full rebuild and my roster space is limited. But I was offered Jake Bauers, Byron Buxton, and Maikel Franco for my Nick Senzel. Good deal for me, or does quality > quantity win out? (Dominic from San Diego) | That a tough call Dominic given Senzel's helth struggles this season. While the finger surgery is one thing, the vertigo problem is something else. He did seem to make a recovery from that vertigo briefly before the finger injury, but you never know about something like that. If you are in a rebuild, it's nice to get three young-ish players for one, but Buxton and Franco are not such legitimate guys on which to build. They are depth pieces at best. Comes down to Bauers versus Senzel. Personally, I'd keep Senzel or look for a better deal for him. (Scott Delp) |
2018-01-31 14:00:00 (link to chat) | Which rookies will have the most impact this season? (Buddy from Peoria, IL) | Would it be cheating to say Shohei Ohtani? Or Ronald Acuna? If so, I think we'll hear from Alex Reyes, Willie Calhoun, and Lewis Brinson for sure. I kind of like Jesse Winker too. Also, Jake Bauers might be a good under-the-radar guy we didn't expect much from, but comes up to do damage. (Mark Barry) |
2017-06-13 12:00:00 (link to chat) | Please rank the following based on fantasy profile long-term: Jake Bauers, Nick Williams, Scott Kingery, Shed Long, Austin Hays, Ryan Mountcastle. Thanks! (Fred from Scottsdale) | Williams, Mountcastle, Kingery, Hays, Long, Bauers.
It's tough because you've got some speed-only types in there and at that point it really just depends what you're looking for on your team. I have never been on Bauers, so there might be some bias there. (Craig Goldstein) |
2017-02-14 12:00:00 (link to chat) | Thoughts on Jake Bauers? How close was he? (Tony from ND) | He's one of the better first baseman that Ben comped to CJ Cron, but probably doesn't even squeeze onto the hypothetical 150. (The Top 101 Prospect Chat with Jeffrey Paternostro) |
2017-01-18 20:00:00 (link to chat) | Hey Bret, I could use some help on deep dynasty assets for a prospect draft. 20 team dynasty league, 150+ prospects owned. I have two upcoming picks and I've put together a list of 10 guys that I'm having a terrible time differentiating.
My list is:
Jake Bauers, Jahmai Jones, Lucas Erceg, Christin Stewart, Taylor Trammell, Alec Hansen, Walker Buehler, Sixto Sanchez, Justin Dunn, Sandy Alcantara
I was thinking about one hitter and one pitcher but really I just want the two best values from that list. How would you rank the top 3-5 in case a few get taken between my picks? Obviously some of them are closer to the majors and some are much farther away which is why I'm struggling. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
(treynay3 from Grand Rapids) | I'd go Jones, Alcantara, Erceg, Dunn. (Bret Sayre) |
2015-06-30 19:00:00 (link to chat) | Is Jake Bauers the most underrated prospect in baseball?
(Isaac Asimov from international space station ) | The most underrated prospects are usually the guys who don't get any copy/press at all. Bauers is up there, but for me the guys like Robert Refsnyder who everyone insists is a non-prospect are truly underrated. Refsnyder might never make it, but he deserves a shot and could cobble together a 10 year career if he gets it. (Mike Gianella) |
2014-06-26 14:00:00 (link to chat) | Who is Jake Bauers and why is he tearing apart a league much older than him? (TheWildPitch from New York) | Jack Bauer will pretty much dominate whatever league in which he plays. Er, what? Jake Bauers. Right. Different guy. He's a 7th-round draft pick from a year ago, a high-school first baseman. I haven't seen him play, but he's reportedly a guy with an advanced approach and a good feel for hitting. However, he's limited to first base and doesn't have the power profile to carry first base. His advanced approach is currently on display in Low-A, though, and as an 18-year-old, that's legit. (J.P. Breen) |
