2019  Due to publishing agreements, the 2019 player comments and team essays are only available in the Baseball Prospectus 2019 book (available in hardcopy, and soon e-book and Kindle).
2018 The good news is Carlos Asuaje’s best skill—contact—is the most important. The bad news is it’s his only tool and he’s running out of time to show it off in the big leagues.
2017 The first thing you notice when you see Asuaje on the field is his minuscule stature. Though he's listed at 5-foot-9, it's safe to assume he's at least a couple inches shorter than that. Don't be too distracted by the height, though, because the dude can flat out hit. Carrying an impressive hit tool that allows him to spray line drives all over the place, and enough speed to ensure solid power numbers despite not hitting the ball over the fence, Asuaje can be part of major-league lineups for years to come. Combine that with the ability to play multiple positions, and baby you got a stew goin'. Pretty good for arguably the fourth-best piece in the Craig Kimbrel trade.
2016 Carlos Asuaje is the latest middle infield prospect whose height suggests the Red Sox heavily scout the Shire. He performed reasonably well in Portland en route to being named an Eastern League All-Star.
2015 Carlos Asuaje comes from the Dustin Pedroia/Sean Coyle school of short infielders with plus hit tools. He's got second-division upside, which is a big jump from 11th-round downside.

2016-06-21 20:00:00 (link to chat)Deep league, MI woes. Is Carlos Asuaje worth a stash?
(Jim from Kansas)
Maybe? His numbers this year are great and in line with his numbers from 2014, but his 2015 numbers were not encouraging. I don't know whether the real Asuaje is the 2015 version, the 2016 version, or where in the middle the truth lies. (Scooter Hotz)
2015-10-09 13:00:00 (link to chat)Might Moncada, Mazara and Robles all be among the top 15 prospects heading into 2016?
(Chopper from Indy)
I dont do the red sox list. I do work for Carlos Asuaje however and he totally should make that cut. (Joshua Kusnick)
