2018-02-05 12:00:00 (link to chat) | Who is the 420th best prospect in baseball? (Lance from Lance Island) | So, Next ten in a good system, fringe top ten in a worse one. High probability I'd just pick Carlos Tocci. (Top 101 with Jeffrey Paternostro) |
2015-06-15 19:00:00 (link to chat) | Hey Brendan. Do you have any Low Minor, high ceiling prospects your a fan of and are looking to jump on before their stock gains recognition this season? (kiper90 from Rochester, NY) | I like it when prospects start putting it together after going through some early struggles. So, seeing guys like Matt Chapman and Carlos Tocci start to hit is exciting.
I got this question before the season, and answered with Keury Mella and Monte Harrison. Mella has been great; Harrison has... well, Mella's been great. Still have my eye on both. (Brendan Gawlowski) |
2013-09-11 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Are we merely waiting for Carlos Tocci to put on muscle or are there a ton of other concerns? (MattWinks from Madison) | It's a little more than just that. The muscle is the biggest thing. Does he and can he get stronger? The game itself is pretty mature – the approach at the plate, his defense in the outfield. But I do wonder what type of upside we're looking at here. Is it a role 5 ceiling if it all pans out? Hits for an okay average, plays a good D, steals some bases, and shows little power. It's a potential big-league profile if it all pans out but it's not a crazy high ceiling. I did like him overall though and, as I wrote a couple weeks ago, I'm not freaking out about his poor numbers this season. (Jason Cole) |
2013-06-25 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Jason, I'm somewhat surprised to see Carlos Tocci on the firnges of the top 50. I'm impressed he's holding his own in full season ball at 17, but what do you think is his ultimate potential? (cormican from Raleigh) | Any 17-year-old that can hold their own in a full-season league impresses me. I think he needs to add strength without losing tools, but I think he makes it happen. He's a gifted player. (Jason Parks on the Midseason Top 50 Prospects) |
2013-04-04 11:00:00 (link to chat) | Thoughts on Carlos Tocci going to full season ball? (MattWinks from Madison) | It's aggressive, but they obviously believe he needs the challenge and believe he can handle the challenge, pass or fail, which is the most important aspect of the process. Some players can't fail and respond. I like the move. Challenge those that can handle the emotional/physical demands of the challenge. (Jason Parks) |
2013-02-05 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Does Carlos Tocci offer a similar upside/risk to mondesi or should i not even hold out hope for power there? (Matt from NJ) | He's not in the same ballpark as Mondesi, but he could develop into a very good prospect. I'm also in love with Mondesi and I gave him a prospect promise ring. (Jason Parks) |
