2020-08-05 13:00:00 (link to chat) | What kind of career do you think Cavan Biggio has? And why do you think pretty much everyone was late to the party on a guy who, at the very least, looks like a solid average regular? (Roger from Ontario) | I'm not particularly fond of Biggio. He's fine but I think generally too passive at the plate without enough punch to make pitchers afraid of challenging his unwillingness to swing. I guess I'd disagree with the premise that everyone was late, just because he had a nice half-season. I'll be interested to see how the league adjusts now that there's more of a book on him. (Craig Goldstein) |
2020-07-08 13:00:00 (link to chat) | I enjoyed Tim McCullough's article on Fantasy Stats 101: Strikeout and Walk Rates for Hitters. Being a scoresheet owner, these two stats are extremely important. With this in mind, can Cavan Biggio's elite walk rate make up for his dismal strike out rate. Scoresheet has been running exhibition games while we wait for baseball to return. I thought I could live with Biggio's strike out rate because of his OBP. But those K's are driving me crazy! (Operator Error from CPU) | I'm a little dour on Biggio. PECOTA liked him a bunch, I think because of the walk rate, but I'm skeptical because I think it borders on passivity. Now, in 2019 he did a good job of punishing pitchers for coming into the zone enough it might work, but I don't know that he can hold those power numbers. His in-zone take rate is just so high, I think he needs to swing more, but I'm also doubtful that swinging more will get him better results, if that makes sense? (Craig Goldstein) |
2020-01-29 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Amed Rosario vs Cavan Biggio. Who has the more valuable roto outlook over the next three years? (MK from Houston) | I think I'd still take Rosario? My big concern with Biggio is that I'm not sure how sustainable the walk rate he had last year is, and if he's going to be that passive, I think the league will adapt. (Craig Goldstein) |
2019-08-06 12:00:00 (link to chat) | In a dynasty league I have isan Diaz, Cavan Biggio, and Keston Hiura on my team. Would you keep all 3 and see who turns out best. Or is it obvious that Biggio is low man. and I should use him to address other needs. (temple from madison) | If you can get someone to buy Biggio now. I would do that. (Jeffrey Paternostro) |
2019-06-07 12:00:00 (link to chat) | Does Cavan Biggio stick? What can we expect the rest of the way? I’m in a hits plus walks league, and I’m hoping you think he can handle MI for the rest of the year. (Fingers crossed) (tallahassee from Chatham, NJ) | I think he's fine as a bench piece. I'm not sold on him as an everyday second baseman at all defensively, and I don't think the power plays quite as much in the majors. Now, the Jays might play him there the rest of the year so you might be fine for eligibility purposes. (Jeffrey Paternostro) |
2019-05-22 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Why isn't Cavan Biggio considered a bigger prospect? (Nickelback from Canada) | Well he's only 6-foot-2.
Please clap. I think he gets overshadowed because both Vladito and Bichette are also sons of bigtime MLBers who have more prospect ceiling. Biggio is a real prospect, for sure. Don't go too crazy over those Triple-A numbers given the change in the ball, though. (Craig Goldstein) |
2018-09-12 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Is the power real for Cavan Biggio, Tor 2B? (Eitan from Israel) | Everyone's power is real these days. I'm buying Biggio stock. (Mark Barry) |
2018-06-22 13:00:00 (link to chat) | How would you rank the following for dynasty fantasy purposes: Cavan Biggio, Esteury Ruiz, Oneil Cruz, Shed Long, Ke'Bryan Hayes. Thanks in advance. (Enrique from The Ranch) | What a weird hodgepodge. Probably Shed/Hayes/Biggio/Cruz/Ruiz (Jeffrey Paternostro) |
2018-05-25 12:15:00 (link to chat) | Are Cavan Biggio, and Kevin Smith (Blue Jays), prospects to get excited about or is their success simply due to them being old for their level? (cracker73 from Florida) | Can't it be a little of both? If you're old for your level you *have* to be doing this type of thing, and Smith especially is just blocked out by other prospects above him, so him languishing isn't a sign of the org's opinion on him. Biggio is definitely interesting and another one of these guys putting the ball in the air more often, so it's a plausible explanation for the power boost. (Craig Goldstein) |
2018-05-04 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Is Cavan Biggio now a thing? A league that rosters 300 minors. (Warren from Australia ) | I think he's worth watching. For a 300 man roster, yea, I'd get after him. I'd honestly roster him in my 80 man league if I could. (Anthony Rescan) |
2013-06-07 10:30:00 (link to chat) | After the first round, are there players you are higher on than the consensus? Essentially, who are your sleepers? (Adam from Shreveport) | A lot of the kids I thought would prove to be good value early on Day 2 ended up coming off the board yesterday in the second round. I think Chris Okey (C, Eustis HS (Eustis, FL)), Cavan Biggio (2B/3B, St Thomas HS (Houston, TX), and Tyler O'Neill (C, Garibaldi SS (BC)) could have been second orund selections. Big fan of Thomas Milone (OF, Masuk HS (Monroe, CT)), who's a cold weather kid that didn't get tons of opportunity to showcase his stuff this spring. (Nick Faleris on the MLB Draft) |
2013-01-02 13:00:00 (link to chat) | What prospects from Texas, HS or college, are likely to go high in this year's ML draft? (Joe Don Luna from North Texas) | Lots of Texas kids, including Kohl Stewart (St. Pius X), Cavan Biggio (St. Thomas), and Casey Shane (Centennial) at the prep ranks. 4yr, Kubitza/Simms (Rice), Knebel/Felts (Texas), Masek (Texas Tech), Mitchell (TCU). Sure I'm missing some, but those are good follows off the top of my head. (Nick Faleris) |
