2014-11-24 13:00:00 (link to chat) | No Frederis Parra mention in the Cardinals' top 10 list? (Landon from NY) | Discussed in the comments section; some interesting aspects to the profile but inconsistent performer who doesn't appear to be fast tracking. May see a MWL assignment next year but could just as easily stick in extended and ship off to short-season ball. Not a top ten guy in that system, and there were more interesting profiles to discuss On the Rise. (NL Central Top 10s With Nick Faleris) |
2014-10-13 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Where does Frederis Parra go to start 2015? (Festivus313 from Pittsburgh) | You're guess is as good as mine. I still have yet to hear a good answer as to why he didn't get out of the GCL this year. From a talent standpoint, he's ready for full-season ball next year. Heck, I think he was ready this year. The Cardinals know what they're doing, so I assume they have their reasons and I assume they have something to do with getting acclimated to life in the states. Despite being 19, this was his first time stateside. If he's being held back, it has to be for a non-baseball reason. Assuming he can handle it off the field, he has to go to the Midwest League for a challenge next season, and even that shouldn't be too much of a hurdle for him.
I really like Parra. (Jeff Moore) |
2014-07-03 19:00:00 (link to chat) | Who are some Rookie level players getting hyped behind the scenes by your colleagues? Besides Frederis Parra. (Steve from Philly ) | Jason Parks has a chat on 7/7, I really do suggset asking him because he can definitely give you a better answer than I would. (Mauricio Rubio) |
2014-06-25 13:00:00 (link to chat) | What do you look for pitchers and position players at level like the GCL? (Derek from MO) | Raw tools. You're not going to find a lot of polish in the GCL, which is what made Frederis Parra stand out so much. For pitchers I look for a good frame (body) and an arm action that I like. Velocity is good, command is a plus. Throwing a secondary pitch for strikes is a really big plus. For hitters, I look at the swing, the actions at the plate and the pitch recognition. (Jeff Moore) |
