Interesting. Using the player on this page I heard both voices. How were you listening?
I had the same problem - I normally listen at work with only one earbud. I think the start of the recording is in stereo, Paul's on the other side.
Also, thanks for answering my question Paul. And for the record, last name Sroufe is pronounced like "Shroaf" (rhymes with loaf). A lot more German, but a lot less awesome.
