Found in the May 14, 1946, Charlestown Daily Mail:
The game in question was the back-end of a doubleheader in St. Louis versus the Reds. Musial went 1-for-4 (and scored the Cards' only run) against Cincinnati's Ewell Blackwell as St. Louis fell 5-1.
Adjusting for inflation, Mr. Boston was fined over $5,500 for throwing a beer bottle at The Man. There's no doubt that this was the act of a deranged man, but, even so, that is an incredible fine. I suspect that Judge Grellner was a Cardinals fan...

and you don't know how much the costs were. Last time I got a ticket in Pa, the fine was $10 plus $87.50 in costs. Or $900 to the homeowners association (for not planting grass in December) plus $5000 lawyers fees.
