Tater Trot Tracker
Trot Times for July 18
by Larry Granillo
It's July 19 and the Pirates are in sole possession of first place. If only an Andrew McCutchen home run had been responsible for the win. Shucks.
Let's get to the trots!
Home Run of the Day: Pablo Sandoval, San Francisco Giants - 21.05 seconds [video]
I know I'm not supposed to like home runs just because they almost leave the park, but I can't really help myself in AT&T Park. A booming flyball off the bat of Pablo Sandoval that lands at the back of the rightfield wall, just inches from a possible McCovey Cove Splash Down, is something that I really can't deny.
Slowest Trot: Asdrubal Cabrera, Cleveland Indians - 24.76 seconds [video]
That's two home runs in a row that have landed Cabrera in the Slowest Trot of the Day ranks. I'll have to keep my eye on him. He may be starting to enjoy this power surge a little too much.
Quickest Trot: Ryan Zimmerman, Washington Nationals - 19.75 seconds [video]
A nice, brisk trot from Zimmerman around the bases. It was the only trot to come in under twenty-seconds on Monday (and looked much quicker). The second quickest trot belonged to Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Salty's trot was most noticeable for centerfielder Adam Jones, who nearly fell over the eight foot fence jumping for the ball (video). In fact, I almost made it Home Run of the Day just for Jones' effort. I love that stuff.

Pablo's big fly was certainly impressive. Not many home runs hit out to that part of the yard.
