Overall

In the final week of the Stompers season, Stoops had to return to Pennsylvania for a funeral. We were in a pennant race and looking forward to a championship game, but the easy thing for him to do would have been to fly back east and call it a season. He was, after all, only making $350 a month, less than the flight would cost. He went, and then he came back to finish the season. "I love winning," he explained.
