Pitch Type Future Grade Sitting Velocity Peak Velocity Report
Fastball 45 88-89 92 Worked 88-92 (88-89) w/ occasional downhill action. Filled zone w/ basic strikes when delivery was right, though struggled to command quality spots to either half of the plate. Below-avg velocity could play up a tick w/ improvements to command.
Cutter 45 86-87 87 Mixed in a handful of short cut fastballs at 86-87 for second look. Wrinkle pitch; usable in small doses; limited gloveside cut.
Slider 40 80 82 3/4 breaker at 80-82 that slurved w/ soft bite at times. Struggled to find a feel for it in this look; most showed early w/ softer action and finished down out of the zone. Tougher angle on LHB; chance tick better pitch than seen in a rough outing.
Changeup 45 79-80 82 CH features velocity separation off FB w/ slight fade to arm-side at best. Frequently slowed arm through release, costing him action/bottom on the pitch; got floaty over the heart of the plate and up in the zone.
Control 45     Struggles to command FB and land secondaries for strikes in this outing. Frequent misses w/ SL and CH. Has clean enough mechanics to project up on overall strike-throwing a tick.
Overall

Body and delivery look the part, but lacks natural feel for strikes w/o huge stuff to pitch through it. Saw worst outing to date in 2016, still showed that refinement is needed to control and secondary consistency in order to fit ML starter profile. Second-rounder in 2015; will check back in on him later in year to reassess low role.
