Pitch Type Future Grade Sitting Velocity Peak Velocity Report
FB 65 88-92 94 Below-average command within zone; control ahead of command; straight; pure deception pitch; balls explodes late and acts as riser above belt; tough to pick up from hand; optimal extension; works all four quadrants; arm-side command outpaces glove side
SL 50 79-82 83 Below-average command with inconsistent arm slot; lacks feel for consistent offering start to start; consistent 40 pitch with little depth/bite one day, flashes 60 with wipeout ability next day; three-quarters shape; moderate depth; can spin early and stay loose; flashes two-plane ability with hard bite
CH 40 85-86 86 Flashes one or two each start; firm from hand; slight sink; moderate arm deception; show-me material
Overall

Bickford's stuff profiles best in a late-innings relief role. He has the body and arm to work multiple times through a lineup, and he features a deceptive fastball with late life up that generates swings and misses, but he lacks a third pitch and struggles commanding within the zone. His slider can change multiple grades from one start to the next but is something that can be masked in short stints. Bickford's best-case scenario is a two-pitch starter with a back-end rotation spot. A high-leverage reliever is the safe bet.
