Build: Sturdy frame; mature looking body; power bottom; strong core; medium sized shoulders; strong forearms; reliever only stamina.
Mechanics: 3/4 slot; arm stab in back; very fast arm; hips/medium shoulders in sync when coming around towards the plate, strong throughout core/upright in mid-section during delivery; gets downhill angle on pitches; consistent landing spot; quick move to first; good footwork; repeats well for size; good tempo; average command overall, uses lower half of K-zone well; reliever profile only.
Frederick Keys (High A, Orioles)
45; 6th/7th inning RP
T95 4x; Average command; gets downhill angle; changes eye level of hitter; arm side action in lower velocity band; average command; threw strikes to all 4 quadrants; pitch generated swings and misses.
T81 3x; Average command; 11-5 shape; hard bite/snap; two-plane break; tight spin; present average, flashed solid average -- adds/subtracts to vary break and depth to throw for strike and for chase pitch; was told it is a slider but has curveball break/depth.
Dennis Torres is a little older player in the bullpen of the Frederick Keys team. Torres sowed a present average command with both pitches of his arsenal. I do not see much room for improvement but it is possible, with more MiLB work this year and a little next year, his command could get to solid average and then, he would be able to sustain his plus fastball and average curveball for a longer time/have longer prime. Also if that happens, his curveball would play to solid average. Torres will move to AA soon I assume and from there he should reach the majors some time next year.
Drafted: 2012 28th Round, 852 overall
Why: potential bullpen guy; mature build; showed ability to spin curveball; (in 28th round, if he reaches AA, its' a great pick).
