Tool Future Grade Report
Hit 60 Average bat speed; advanced hit tool; ability to barrel; good balance; comfortable in the box; works deep counts; patient approach, doesn’t expand zone or chase off speed; advanced plate coverage; high contact; line to line hitter; line drive swing plane; lacks consistent loft.
Power 45 Doubles power; BP power was better than in-game power; relies on hard gap contact in games; lacks consistent loft in swing for over the fence power; has the body to hit for power, but the approach and swing will hinder the power; has made strides from previous seasons.
Baserunning/Speed 40 Below average runner; limited foot speed; slow out of the box; lacks field coverage defensively; not a big part of his game.
Glove 55 Good instincts in OF; lack of speed profiles as a corner outfielder; arm strength plays for a role in right field.; direct routes to the ball; good reads off the bat.
Arm 60 Plus arm strength; suited for RF; arm strength was plus even without crow hop; quick release; arm flashed plus plus when he had time to get feet set and crow hop.
Overall

Piscotty has a mature approach at the plate, with an advanced feel of the strike zone, and rarely chases. He rarely swings and misses with plus plate coverage. Has the size to hit for average power, but the swing lacks consistent loft and plays as more of gap power, but he has made great strides with his swing plane and power. He showed the ability to impressively and consistently barrel the ball in the games. BP power was much better than in game power. Good instincts defensively. Profiles as a corner outfielder due to the lack of speed. Solid average athleticism even with poor speed, looks athletic in the box. Direct routes in the outfield, with the ability read the ball off the bat well. Plus arm strength; suited for RF. He has two plus tools with the mature hit tool, and plus arm strength. Good instincts and IQ to be solid average defensively will make Piscotty an above average big leaguer.
