2017-09-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)Rank these pitchers and if you keep two who do keep: Mitch Keller, Triston McKenzie, Chance Adams, Sixto Sanchez, Jason Groome? Thanks JP
(Jquinton82 from NY)
Based on my very limited expertise in fantasy/prospect stuff: Sixto, Keller, Groome, McKenzie, Adams. Keep an eye on Groome's injury, though. Keep Sixto and Keller. (Nicolas Stellini)
2017-07-06 12:00:00 (link to chat)How close was Erick Fedde to the top 50?
(Andrew from DC)
So some of this is on the Nats because if they'd just kept him a starter the whole season he probably would have made it? Like you can basically plug in the Chance Adams blurb for him and it applies equally well. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2017-07-12 13:00:00 (link to chat)AL East, what minor league pitchers will get the call in the second half? Chance Adams, Brent Honeywell? How do you think they do?
(Stan from Baltimore)
Those are good bets, I'd think we'd see Adams sooner rather than later, although I'm not sure if they have him on an innings limit. I think he will hold his own. Honeywell is super fun and his K:BB is great, but he's still getting hit around a bit in AAA. I'd guess he appears as a reliever in September and excels in that role and auditions for a rotation spot next spring.

Limiting it to the AL East...Justus Sheffield could also survive at the back of the rotation maybe? (Nick Schaefer)
2017-05-04 13:00:00 (link to chat)Will Chance Adams break through the midseason T-100? Dominated last year in his first year as a SP and dominating this year, as well.
(TVD from Bronx)
It's a midseason 50, which makes it tougher. He was in consideration for the 101 this year, and I don't doubt he makes it next year. I've talked to at least one scout who thinks he's even higher than that though. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2017-03-16 13:00:00 (link to chat)What do you think of this Kevin Garnett-esqu trade in a 30 team dynasty league: Andrew Benintendi for German Marquez, Jacob Nix, Brock Stewart, Chance Adams, Taylor Trammell, Luis Urias, TJ Friedl, and Ricardo Cespedes?
(Bob from Georgia)
I have no idea whether this is a good trade or not. It depends too much on too many things I don't know. I don't play dynasty leagues. Best guess: if you're willing to trade present for future, I really like the idea and several of these names. Go for it. (Matthew Trueblood)
2016-09-29 13:00:00 (link to chat)Who do you like more and why, Chance Adams or Jordan Montgomery?
(j from OR)
Good one. I like Adams quite a bit more than Montgomery, and I like Montgomery. I just think Adams has a better chance of missing bats; he's showing 70-60-50 stuff and throwing a ton of strikes in the process. Montgomery is safer, but there's no plus pitch, and he might actually have wore command than Adams. They're both nice pitchers, but I definitely prefer Adams. (Christopher Crawford)
2016-09-26 20:00:00 (link to chat)Curious for your take on Brandon Woodruff and Chance Adams?
(Thomas from MA)
I like Woodruff. He has good strikeout rates, walk rates, and hit rates so far and he he's tall with mid-90s velocity. He's not that far away, either, after spending most of this season in Double-A.

I don't now as much about Adams, but his stat line sure is pretty. (Scooter Hotz)
2016-09-07 19:00:00 (link to chat)Both Brett Honeywell and Chance Adams pitched at AA level this year. Any chance we'll see them in the majors next year? What is a realistic expectation for both?
(Beach Bum from Ocean City)
I did see Chance Adams, though I kept getting bumped off his starts towards the end of the year by his schedule being jumbled and me having a real job. I think both Adams and Honeywell have reasonable mid-rotation upside.

Once you're in Double-A as a pitcher of note, you're only one injury or doubleheader or whatnot from getting a call-up, so yeah, they both have a shot. (Jarrett Seidler)
2016-09-12 23:00:00 (link to chat)Should I drop low level arms like Oscar De La Cruz or Franklyn Perez for Chance Adams or Brandon Woodruff? Deep dynasty for pitching where a productive MLB SP is useful or prospects with rankings shine.
(Majortom from TX)
Sorry this is a little slower tonight, I'm having some connectivity issues...

This is as interesting a question on a philosophical level as it is a real one with these actual guys. I trend towards the camp of grabbing utility from high-minors arms over banking on high-risk upside arms in the low minors in general, though I'll note that there's some context dependence there, and certain arms are exceptions. Adams is a guy I'd grab; Steve Givarz put up a solid report on him back in June, and I'm not convinced he can't be a useful deeper-league starter. Woodruff's another guy who's interesting for those speculating on present/immediate future value. I'm awful giddy about Perez after Mau's recent musings on him, and I'd be tempted to hold him for now. But a guy like De La Cruz yeah, I might nix (or at the very least hope to trade for a pick or something) in favor of a closer arm with more immediate utility in a deeper league.

2016-08-11 14:00:00 (link to chat)What are your thoughts on German Marquez and Chance Adams? Do you see Marquez developing the secondary stuff to pitch towards the front of a rotation, and is it still a relief profile with Adams given his success this year in AA? Thank you.
(Tim from Jacksonville)
I don't know much about Chance Adams, but I like German Marquez as a potential mid-rotation piece. He has the delivery to start and just needs a bit more consistency with his secondary stuff. I know that's a big "if," but he has the building blocks to do it. (J.P. Breen)
