|2017-09-29 12:00:00 (link to chat)||What can we expect from Lewin Diaz next year? Is he someone that can improve his hit tool enough to tap into that raw power in games and break out next season?|
(JP from KC)
|Getting out of the Midwest League will help (and he didn't lack for doubles), the raw power is huge and he's a good enough hitter he shouldn't have to sell out for it. I'm a tough sell on first-base only guys, but he's a breakout candidate. (Jeffrey Paternostro)|
|2017-05-22 23:00:00 (link to chat)||Got some questions on low level prospects who seem to be performing well in Taylor Trammell, Lewin Diaz & Tatis Jr. Has your opinion changed on any of these players if you had any coming into the season?|
(Leonard from None of Your Business )
|Trammell's an Athlete, and it's been encouraging that he's held his own with the stick so far given he was thought to be fairly baseball-raw coming into the draft. Advanced approach has stood out, even as a report I've heard indicates his swing mechanics are still pretty inconsistent swing-to-swing. Diaz is one of those dudes who was always going to be a slower burn, but early full-season returns are encouraging. Still very aggressive, but it's broadly the good kind of in-zone aggressiveness. He has massive power and pairs it with some intriguing contact skills. Tatis is grabbing the Midwest League by the horns and showing some real high-end projection already. He's probably done the most early on to improve his lot, though all three have had really nice starts to their seasons. (Wilson Karaman)|
|2015-08-21 13:00:00 (link to chat)||Hey Wilson. Are there any Low Minor players whose name is not yet widely recognized and you are looking to keep an eye on as the season concludes to possibly jump on for a name breakout next year?|
(kiper90 from Rochester, NY)
|Leaving out the '15 draftees, Victor Robles is probably the biggest helium guy of the year. Our Mark Anderson just tossed three 7's onto his ledger, linked below. Javier Guerra and Amed Rosario are a couple interesting shortstops. And while another one, Jorge Mateo, has gotten a lot of attention for his wheels, Rockies A-ball CFer Wes Rogers is a dude with a similar skillset & more polished hit tool. Potential SB beast. Jomar Reyes is a fan favorite of our scouting team. Amaurys Minier & Lewin Diaz in the Twins system are also both interesting raw power bats. Arms you'll be hearing a lot more about include Anderson Espinoza, Franklyn Kilome, Michael Kopech (though he's suspended), and the now-in-High-A Francis Martes (whose CB is just disgusting). |YOU CAN'T STUMP ME!
Another guy I haven't seen in person, but reports are that he has above-average pop and he has an advanced feel at the plate. Many, many years away from contributing, but that'd qualify as a sleeper prospect. (Christopher Crawford)
|2015-02-09 20:00:00 (link to chat)||Hey Chris & Nick, who do have as some of your favorite Low Minor, high ceiling prospects to keep an eye on for 2015, before their stock gains recognition this season, ex. Tapia last pre-season or Devers by its conclusion?|
(kiper90 from Rochester, NY)
|I like what I've heard from some evaluators on Lewin Diaz. I unfortunately didn't get a chance this year to go down to Instructs (prior commitments) to see for myself, but there was some buzz on him. 2015 may be a bit early given where he is, but a name to definitely keep on the radar.
