DateQuestionAnswer
2017-01-18 20:00:00 (link to chat)Outlook on a couple disappointing ss prospects for dynasty - JP Crawford and Javier Guerra? Are we overrating JPC for fantasy because of his advanced approach and defensive value? Isn't there a real chance he's a .275/10/15 hitter? Hold Guerra for another year in a 16-team or was '15 just an aberration and he's really not good? Thanks.
(Jojo from SD)
Don't do Crawford like that. I think he's being underrated for fantasy right now. Prospect fatigue is a real thing. Guerra isn't particularly interesting though. (Bret Sayre)
2015-07-23 17:00:00 (link to chat)Please rank these prospects by their offensive potential...Anthony Alford, Victor Robles, Javier Guerra, Jomar Reyes, Jacob Nottingham
(Festivus313 from Phoenix)
Robles, Alford, Guerra, Nottingham, Reyes. Really tough for me though in that dynasty isn't my strength and I'm mostly goingg off of other's rankings. (Mike Gianella)
2015-07-23 17:00:00 (link to chat)Strictly in your opinion, can you rate these SS on their potential upside, and are there sizable gaps anywhere in the rankings? Jorge Mateo, Javier Guerra, Gleybar Torres, Adrian Rondon, Gilbert Lara (3B bound) and Franklin Barreto. Thanks
(Flanders from Springfield)
Torres, Barreto, Mateo, Lara, Guerra, and Rondon. I think there's a gap between Torres/Barreto and the rest of those guys. (Mike Gianella)
2015-08-21 13:00:00 (link to chat)Hey Wilson. Are there any Low Minor players whose name is not yet widely recognized and you are looking to keep an eye on as the season concludes to possibly jump on for a name breakout next year?
(kiper90 from Rochester, NY)
Leaving out the '15 draftees, Victor Robles is probably the biggest helium guy of the year. Our Mark Anderson just tossed three 7's onto his ledger, linked below. Javier Guerra and Amed Rosario are a couple interesting shortstops. And while another one, Jorge Mateo, has gotten a lot of attention for his wheels, Rockies A-ball CFer Wes Rogers is a dude with a similar skillset & more polished hit tool. Potential SB beast. Jomar Reyes is a fan favorite of our scouting team. Amaurys Minier & Lewin Diaz in the Twins system are also both interesting raw power bats. Arms you'll be hearing a lot more about include Anderson Espinoza, Franklyn Kilome, Michael Kopech (though he's suspended), and the now-in-High-A Francis Martes (whose CB is just disgusting). (Wilson Karaman)
2015-07-06 13:00:00 (link to chat)Did anyone push for Javier Guerra or Richard Urena to be included in top 50?
(John Dennis from MA)
Tucker and I both really like Guerra, but his bat is just far enough away to not have quite gotten strong consideration for this list. He's not going away though. Urena didn't really get mentioned, but it's a similar situation. (Jeff Moore)
2015-06-22 13:00:00 (link to chat)Rank the Greenville infielders in order of wishing they were Phillies: Michael Chavis, Rafael Devers, Mauricio Dubon, Javier Guerra, and Yoan Moncada? (I put them in alphabetical order for you to avoid any cognitive bias based on how they initially appeared)
(Steve from Phila)
Love this question. I'll take Devers, Moncada, Guerra, Chavis, Dubon. I love Devers. He's got that innate bat speed and barrel feel I was talking about earlier. It's just natural and pure. Mondada is great for the obvious reasons we've talked about. I also love Guerra. He's a stud and a legit big league shortstop defensively, and he has more pop than you'd expect from his thin frame. I've seen him go out opposite field and it's impressive.

It's too bad the Red Sox have played themselves out of the need for Cole Hamels, because that's a system deep enough for the Phillies to make their demands and actually have them obliged. (Jeff Moore)
2015-06-22 13:00:00 (link to chat)Better Single-A SS prospect: Richard Urena, Javier Guerra, or Ruddy Giron? Also, thank you for the prospect chat that is both lengthy and girthy.
(Barry from Wyoming)
I don't get described as girthy all that often, so thank you. I'll take Guerra. I really like him. (Jeff Moore)
2015-06-22 13:00:00 (link to chat)Tucker Blair put a future 40 hit, 30 power on Javier Guerra back in May...would you agree or do you think the bat could exceed those grades?
(Grizz from Chi)
He might have a little more power than that, but it's about right. He's a plus defender though, so 40/40 would be enough to be an everyday shortstop and a darn good one with that defense. I talked about where the bar is offensively with Mellen in one of the early podcasts. (Jeff Moore)
2015-05-22 13:00:00 (link to chat)I'll be in greenville tonight, anything I should keepan eye on at the game?
(teddy from lexington)
For starters, check out my reports on the following players:

Rafael Devers http://www.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/eyewitness_bat.php?reportid=217
Javier Guerra http://www.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/eyewitness_bat.php?reportid=214
Michael Chavis http://www.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/eyewitness_bat.php?reportid=220
Mauricio Dubon http://www.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/eyewitness_bat.php?reportid=213
Dedgar Jimenez http://www.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/eyewitness_pit.php?reportid=257

One thing I am specifically intrigued by is the progression of Devers at 3B. How is the footwork? Is the first step lagging and lacking the instinctual necessity for a ball down the line? Is it choppy and causing him to be out of position when he attempts to field a ball? Those were my issues when I watched him play, and could ultimately push him to 1B if there are not improvements. I'm likely on the lower end of the spectrum with his defense, but I am not alone. I've talked with scouts about his defense and the opinion has generally been split.

Oh, and check out that guy Yoan Moncada. Unfortunately, I missed him by a week. (Tucker Blair)
2015-03-25 19:00:00 (link to chat)Hey Jordan, who do you have as some of your favorite Low Minor, high ceiling prospects to keep an eye on for 2015, and are looking to jump on before their stock gains recognition this season, ex. Tapia last pre-season or Devers by its conclusion?
(kiper90 from Rochester, NY)
Amed Rosario, Leonardo Molina, Jorge Mateo, Francisco Mejia, Lewis Brinson, Javier Guerra, and Monte Harrison are some names that jump out. (Jordan Gorosh)
2015-03-25 19:00:00 (link to chat)Tell me more about Javier Guerra please.
(Dave from Modesto)
Chops to stick at short with feel for the barrel (Jordan Gorosh)
