DateQuestionAnswer
2020-06-05 13:00:00 (link to chat)What is your dynasty outlook for Mitch Haniger and Gregory Polanco? Do you think they'll bounce back from big injuries and be valuable dynasty pieces?
(MK from Houston)
These two are both hard to talk about, but for different reasons. I've been super high on Polanco since seeing him in Indy, so he's been one of My Dudes. One of the things that was so appealing was that he could blend the power/speed, but as the years go by, the speed is drying up and as the shoulder injuries accumulate, so has the power. I'm hoping for the best, but not rushing out to scoop him up anywhere.

Haniger, well, his injuries and subsequent surgeries just sound awful. Last I read, he still hasn't been cleared for baseball activity, but he's at least working out, which is good. I'd guess we don't see him this season. I'd be interested to see if anyone is selling low in dynasty, although the injury history is certainly alarming. (Mark Barry)
2020-03-06 13:00:00 (link to chat)Any updates on Mitch Haniger's ruptured testicle?
(Parts and Gleyber from The shop)
I'll let Ric answer this one (Jesse Roche)
2017-09-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)The player's breakout was the surprise of the team's season. He orchestrated his 2015 demotion to the California League to rework his swing and the results speak for themselves. Now with a bigger stride, The player raked across two levels before he earned a big-league cup of coffee and acquitted himself well with an average exit velocity well above average. He gets on base, can cover center field and projects as a plus defender in a corner. He's a late bloomer, but the player has the tools to be an average everyday player just a year after it appeared is career might be all but over. No cheating, Nick.
(JP from Hartford)
Damn you, Jeffrey.
I'm gonna go with Mitch Haniger. (Nicolas Stellini)
2017-04-28 13:30:00 (link to chat)Give us a hot start you believe in (not Harper, dope) and one you think is a mirage
(Gotribe31 from DC)
Does Mitch Haniger count? I was never the highest on him before the swing changes, but I think Nick Piecoro did a great job of detailing those and others in our DBacks essay for the Annual this year, and I think we're seeing them come to fruition (granted, in Seattle). He's not gonna hit .340 or anything, but the power/speed combination is fun there. Mirage I'll go with Avisail Garcia because I've watched him play baseball before. (Craig Goldstein)
2017-03-16 13:00:00 (link to chat)How do you feel about Mitch Haniger setting the world on fire this year?
(sailenac from SD)
Love it. Hope it keeps up. Jerry Dipoto is my spirit animal. Love the Mariners, looking forward to watching them play. The whole hitting revolution continues to fascinate me. I particularly love the way it tends to be late bloomers or guys in dire straits who find their way to it. (Matthew Trueblood)
2017-01-18 20:00:00 (link to chat)Has Mitch Haniger officially gone from sleeper to overhyped?
(Jeff from Brubank)
I long to live in a universe where Haniger is overhyped. He's probably just a lefty-masher, but there's a small chance he's more. If he's being valued as more than that, say no thank you and move on. (Bret Sayre)
2016-07-19 14:00:00 (link to chat)Mitch Haniger -- I realize he must be considered over-the-hill at 25 but it seems like he is really showing something the past year since being healthy. I thought his defense has always been considered strong and goodness knows this could be helpful to the Dbacks OF. Any chance they give him a real shot, even this year?
(tj from dc)
I mean the DBacks aren't exactly going anywhere in a hurry, so there's always a chance he gets a look. He'd need to get added to the 40-man roster, though, and the PCL has a habit of making people look like Stan Musial. (Nicolas Stellini)
