2020-03-16 12:00:00 (link to chat)Did you see anything in Chi Chi Gonzalez as a prospect, to make you think that he could be a solid back end starter this upcoming season? Last 5 outings from 2019 a potential look into the future (27 IP, 5 G, 4 GS, 1.65 ERA, 8.6 K/9)?
(Craig from Chicago)
He was always more of a "safe" number four type with a tick of upside past that, but he's never been healthy nor good for any extended period of time in the majors. He's also 28 and uh not in an ideal org. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2016-06-20 16:00:00 (link to chat)Who is the best team you have seen in your scouting life?
(Larry from NC)
I will preface this by saying that I have not been scouting for that long. I have probably been unaware of the talent of other teams while at games.

But I will say 2014 Myrtle Beach Pelicans. I did my summer internship down there and attended far too many games. Here are the major leaguers from that team: Joey Gallo, Cody Ege, Odubel Herrera, Hanser Alberto, Alexander Claudio, Keone Kela, Chi Chi Gonzalez, Andrew Faulkner, Abel De Los Santos.

While these guys are not in the big leagues yet, they will be soon: Nick Williams, Lewis Brinson, Chris Bostick, Jorge Alfaro, Ryan Cordell, Jose LeClerc, Samuel Wolff

And some other interesting guys with value: Preston Beck, Victor Payano, Kellin Deglan, Michael De Leon, Christopher Garia, Chad Bell

Man was that team loaded... (Steve Givarz)
2016-03-09 19:00:00 (link to chat)Trying to slim down on my lower tier SP for dynasty, help me rank this group, please? Roenis Elias, Chi Chi Gonzalez, Matt Wisler, Alex Meyer, Ervin Santana & Alex Wood
(Meh SPs from Chicago)
I'd go Alex Wood, Santana, Wisler, Meyer, Chi Chi, and Elias. They're all pretty close to me with the exception of Elias. (Mike Gianella)
2016-01-27 19:00:00 (link to chat)What kind of stats do you see Chi Chi Gonzalez putting up for 2016?
(Tony from Florida)
I'm not very high on him. He doesn't offer much beyond a low BABIP and okay ERA, neither of which are guarantees. I'd be avoiding him. (Matt Collins)
2015-07-28 18:00:00 (link to chat)Could you rank these guys for future careers? Steven Matz, Carlos Rodon, Eduardo Rodriguez, Aaron Nola, Chi Chi Gonzalez, Vincent Velasquez. Any of these guys worry you and/or are they all in the same tier?
(ColeWhittier from Pasadena)
This is a tremendous and fun group of arms. Nola, Gonzalez, Rodon, Velasquez, E-Rod, Matz. The one who still scares me the most is Rodon. There's a good chance he doesn't fulfill his insane upside because of the command issues stemming from his delivery. While Matz and E-Rod are a tier below for me they are both very valuable arms that could be middle rotation stalwarts. (Mauricio Rubio)
2015-07-02 15:00:00 (link to chat)Thoughts on Chi Chi Gonzalez's performance so far?
(markwilkins07 from KS)
Pitching way over his head. The command is not as good as the walk rate suggests but the bat-missing skills might just be as rough as the K rate suggests, and I expect him to be hit hard (and soon) with a harsh dose of reality. (Doug Thorburn)
2015-06-08 19:00:00 (link to chat)How quickly could Tate advance? Like Chi Chi Gonzalez quick?
(Lenny from Dallas)
Tate has a power arm with inconsistent command at times, and there's effort in the delivery. His development depends in part on how the command develops. If he remains a starter, it could take some time, maybe around a 2018 ETA. - DL (BP Draft Chat)
2015-02-26 20:00:00 (link to chat)What pitching prospects ranked 20 and lower will make their big league clubs in 2015? Chi Chi Gonzalez, Jake Thompson, Steven Matz, Aaron Blair, others?
(Karl from San Angelo)
Those first three are good names. Blair has an outside shot. I'd throw Norris, Wisler, and Appel on there as well. (Bret Sayre)
2015-02-04 19:00:00 (link to chat)Which of these Rangers minor league pitchers ends up having the best career? Jake Thompson , Chi Chi Gonzalez , Luis Ortiz or Luke Jackson? Can jackson be a starter or is he ultimately bound for the bullpen?
(Chad from OKC)
Chi Chi slightly ahead of Thompson, gap, Jackson, Ortiz. It's going to come down to command for Jackson, but he's definitely got the stuff to be a starter. It'd be great in short bursts, but they'll give him every chance to start. (Jordan Gorosh)
2015-01-28 19:00:00 (link to chat)5x5 AL only with OPS. keep 7 Major leaguers and 3 minors. can keep more minors in a Majors spot. Finished last season with Correa, Chi Chi Gonzalez, Tim Anderson, Brandon Finnegan, and Alfaro. Obvously keeping Correa, of the others who do you keep/drop/trade?
(JP from tx)
I keep Finnegan, and Anderson. I try to trade Alfaro and I'm ok with letting Chi Chi go. (Mauricio Rubio)
