2015-01-15 18:00:00 (link to chat) | Better prospect: Yorman Rodriguez or Rymer Liriano ? (tbwhite from san diego) | I favor Liriano by a significant margin. (Mark Anderson) |
2015-01-05 15:00:00 (link to chat) | Which of these K machines do you have high hopes for or do you see them all flaming out? Domingo Santana, Jake Lamb, Randal Grichuk, Steven Moya, Yorman Rodriguez. Will any of these guys have long careers as starters? Which has the highest upside and who will flame out? (ColeWhittier from Pasadena, CA) | I can't say that I have high hopes for any of them because of the aforementioned strike out issues, but Lamb's are perhaps the most under control and he should be able to pop enough mistakes out of the park for third base. At least with a guy like Santana, he draws some walks to go with the strike outs. Can't say the same about Moya. Not sure that any of them end up being regulars for any extended period of time. (Jeff Moore) |
2014-12-18 15:00:00 (link to chat) | What are the odds these players have good careers?
Jon Singleton, Domingo Santana, Chris Taylor, Yorman Rodriguez. (ColeWhittier from Pasadena) | 1/14, 1/16/, 1/9, 1/22, respectively (Craig Goldstein) |
2014-11-24 13:00:00 (link to chat) | How many of your NL Central Top 25 do you expect to make it on the top 100 list when BP publishes it? Average would be around 16 or 17 assuming talent is evenly distributed, right? (Mike from Texas) | I did say I'd throw a top 25 NL Central Prospects list out there during this chat. With the understanding this is a work in progress (Mellen and I are starting to dig in on the framework for the Top 101), this is my own personal ranking of the prospects covered in our NL Central rankings:
1. SS Addison Russell 2. 3B Kris Bryant 3. RHP Robert Stephenson 4. OF Jorge Soler 5. OF Albert Almora 6. OF Stephen Piscotty 7. LHP Marco Gonzales 8. RHP Tyler Glasnow 9. RHP Jameson Taillon 10. OF Jesse Winker 11. OF/1B Josh Bell 12. RHP Alex Reyes 13. C Kyle Schwarber 14. RHP Michael Lorenzen 15. SS Orlando Arcia 16. OF Tyrone Taylor 17. OF Billy McKinney 18. RHP Pierce Johnson 19. SS Gleyber Torres 20. RHP Jack Flaherty 21. OF Yorman Rodriguez 22. C Reese McGuire 23. RHP Nick Howard 24. RHP Devin Williams 25. LHP Rob Kaminsky I think all of those guys will be in the discussion for the 101, and expect there to be some shuffling in order of course. Definitely more than the average of 16 or 17. (NL Central Top 10s With Nick Faleris) |
2014-09-03 14:00:00 (link to chat) | What's the right order in terms of offensive upside: Rusney Castillo, Yorman Rodriguez, Dalton Pompey, Steven Moya? (barton from Vinklesville) | Castillo, Moya, Rodriguez, Pompey. But, Pompey's floor is higher than the two preceding him. I'm not sold Moya ever hits, although his pure upside is obviously immense. (Jordan Gorosh) |
2014-01-10 13:00:00 (link to chat) | How likely/unlikely is it that Yorman Rodriguez will have a decently long career as an at least league average outfielder in MLB? (Mr C from Milwaukee) | His offensive game is still so crude that I have a hard time seeing a lengthy MLB career as likely. That said, he's 21 and will be heading back to Double-A with an impressive set of raw tools. I wouldn't bet against him, but I also wouldn't put a lot of money on him finding sustained MLB success. (Mark Anderson) |
2013-05-02 13:00:00 (link to chat) | How has Jordan Akins looked this season?
Also, did you get a chance to see Yorman Rodriguez this year in the Cactus League? (genehuh from Los Angeles) | Akins is better but still iffy in the grand scheme. Report I recently got from Hickory said that he was crushing fastballs and had little chance against breaking balls. The Reds were kind of my white whale this spring. I did not get a chance to see their minor league side, and I think I only saw the big-league team once. I may be making a quick trip over to California while I'm in Arizona at some point this year, however, so stay tuned there. (Jason Cole) |
2012-01-26 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Taking everything into account--age, contract, history--who would you rather have on your team starting right now, Cespedis or Yorman Rodriguez? (Immanuel #Want from Prussia) | Cespedes. (Jason Parks) |
2011-04-13 13:00:00 (link to chat) | What kind of progress are you expecting/hoping for from our man Yorman Rodriguez this season? More power? Better plate discipline? (Johnny from NYC) | I'd love to see a better approach, but that might not show up yet. I'm looking for more game power this season, and if that starts to develop, look out. (Jason Parks) |
2011-02-28 13:00:00 (link to chat) | I'm heavily intruiged by what I've heard about Yorman Rodriguez - is he simply too raw and too far away for 101 consideration at this point? (flutie flake from raining, pa) | Another excellent choice for the "likely to hit next year's list" list. Of lists. (Kevin Goldstein) |
