2013-08-30 13:00:00 (link to chat)Darin Ruf doing anything for you yet?
(rogero from philly)
I talked to him for 15 minutes or so earlier this week, so he did that for me. Might be writing something about him for next week, but for now I'll say that he seems like a nice guy. (Ben Lindbergh)
2013-08-08 17:30:00 (link to chat)Hey Mike Drop I.Davis for Ruf or M.Saunders.Thanks
(Chesty from New Bern,Nc)
I'd definitely drop Ike Davis in a one-and-done; the batting average has improved but the power isn't there. Michael Saunders is the better all around player, but if pitchers are going to keep throwing Darin Ruf 0-2 fastballs (like they did today), ride the hot hand. (Mike Gianella)
2013-02-27 20:00:00 (link to chat)Thoughts on Morosi's prediction for PHI to finish ahead of ATL?
(BOO-URN from parts unknown)
It seems silly, though last year at this time if you told me the Phillies were going to be a .500 team I would have thought you were huffing chemicals. Realistically, the Phillies would need a lot to go right for this to happen. If Roy Halladay returns to Cy Young form, then maybe the Phillies are an 87 win team. At that point, some combination of a breakout by Dom Brown or Darin Ruf, a full, healthy, and productive season by Ryan Howard or Chase Utley and something resembling a 2-3 win season from Delmon Young or Michael Young could make it happen. But it seems to be asking a lot for all of things to happen in 2013. (Mike Gianella)
2013-02-15 12:00:00 (link to chat)in an NL-only 12 team auction league, roughly how would you value Phillies outfielders? It seems crowded with mediocrity, unknowns and worse with Ben Revere, Delmon Young, Darin Ruf, John Mayberry Jr. Domonic Brown and Lance Nix. Any upside here?
(Broken Arrow from Texas)
Revere, Mayberry, Ruf, Brown, 50 feet of crap, Young. In all seriousness, the 1st 2 are the only ones I want to deal with. Ruf went undrafted in LABR which is 29 rounds and 15 teams for a mixed league. (Jason Collette)
2012-12-05 13:00:00 (link to chat)Darin Ruf - will he really get some quality AB's this year? What is reasonable to expect from him?
(Rockford from The Hills)
I'm not opposed to the idea of a Schierholtz/Ruf platoon in LF -- is that what's being proposed? Neither guy is gonna light the world on fire, but it's not a terrible option. (Ian Miller)
2012-11-20 13:00:00 (link to chat)Should Phillies fans be more thankful for Darin Ruf or Cody Asche? And will we ever get to be thankful for Tyson Gillies?
(Governator from Philly)
Ruf over Asche, but don't get too excited about either player. Gillies can really run and play some defense, but he's a fifth outfielder due to lack of plate discipline and power. (Jason A. Churchill)
2012-10-23 13:00:00 (link to chat)What does it mean when people say Darin Ruf has dead hands?
(Lil' Sebastian from The Barn)
They aren't electric or especially fast or fluid. They are just hands. (Jason Parks)
2012-09-28 13:00:00 (link to chat)Darin Ruf has had some good ab's in his limited sample size. Any chance he has a spot out of spring training next year?
(Entheos from NJ)
Thank you for your question, Eutheos. Pretty darn good 20th round senior draft choice for Phillies' Assistant GM/Director of Scouting Marti Wolever. He put up huge numbers at the Phils' Reading affiliate this year, but with Howard a fixture, he is likely going to have to play the outfield to play with the big club in the near future. I saw him at Creighton and a little bit in spring training the last couple years, but could not make an assessment as to whether that would work. I think he is 25 now also. (Dan Evans)
