2013 Righty Adrian Salcedo is a classic Twins starter in development—with a low-90s fastball and more talent at avoiding walks than collecting strikeouts—but will only turn 22 early in the 2013 season, and still has a long way to go.
2012 Overstretched as a teenage emergency starter in High-A in 2010, Salcedo put together a strong season at a more age-appropriate level in 2011, ranking third among Midwest League qualifiers in homer rate and sixth in walk rate. He's a long, lanky strike-thrower with a smooth delivery; his low-90s fastball plays up due to movement and command, but his changeup is average, his breaking ball below average, and he doesn't miss a ton of bats. Physically, he offers a good deal of projection, and could wind up a fourth starter. Expect him to fare better in his return to Fort Myers.
2011 Adrian Salcedo is a loose-limbed athletic pitcher who projects to add velocity to his 94-mph fastball and improve his already above-average curveball.

2011-06-27 14:00:00 (link to chat)I’ve read reports that Adrian Salcedo could be a breakout prospect if his stuff ticks up a notch or two. His performance has been solid, what are you hearing on the scouting front?
(Bob from St Paul)
That applies to many prospects, but how many guys tick up a notch or two? I've seen Salcedo three times in person this year and I do like him. Good fastball in terms of velo and movement, but the breaking ball is pretty fringy. Could be a 3/4 starter. (Kevin Goldstein)
