2017-05-15 17:00:00 (link to chat) | i added Oswaldo Arcia in NL only...he's got to be up w/Pollock & Peralta injured right? is there still hope for him? (Tanner Boyle from Bad News Bears) | I would think so, particularly if their injuries are long-term and not just a day-to-day thing. I still dig the raw power, and I like the fact that the strikeout numbers have dropped a great deal in Triple-A. There's a little hope left. (Mike Gianella) |
2016-04-21 19:00:00 (link to chat) | Is Oswaldo Arcia finally going to pan out? (Eddy from Ohio) | He could, but I still believe he needs a change of scenery. The Twins don't believe in his defense and aren't enamored with his lack of patience at the plate. I could see him panning out as a poor man's Khris Davis somewhere, but with the Twins locked up at DH with Mauer/Park, he's going to have a hard time getting a fair shot imo. (Mike Gianella) |
2015-07-23 17:00:00 (link to chat) | What's up with Oswaldo Arcia and the Twins? Think he gets moved in the next week? (Tony from ND) | There's no room at the inn. I think there's a 50/50 chance he gets moved for relief help. (Mike Gianella) |
2015-04-16 17:00:00 (link to chat) | Someone dropped Oswaldo Arcia in my 12 team, mixed. Should I drop Brandon Belt for him? (Graham from Richmond, VA) | I wouldn't, though you certainly can. I think the batting average gap is too much. (Mike Gianella) |
2015-04-16 17:00:00 (link to chat) | Mike, is what we've seen out of Jon Lester so far this season the new new Lester going forward? Also, do you think Oswaldo Arcia manages to live up to some of the prospect hype this season or should I just move on in a deep keeper league? (James from The Attic) | I doubt it, although I would like to see a decent start after this dead arm period. I do think that he's more likely to be the very good starter he was with Boston as opposed to the great starter he was last year with BOS/OAK.
I think the power will come for Arcia, just don't know if the BA ever will. In a deep league, hang on. (Mike Gianella) |
2015-04-29 20:00:00 (link to chat) | Can Oswaldo Arcia be a poor man's Mark Trumbo this season? If not, how long until he is? (Alex from Austin) | He could be a regular Mark Trumbo later this season. The power is real and the contact issues are as well. (Bret Sayre) |
2015-02-26 20:00:00 (link to chat) | What's Oswaldo Arcia's dynasty value? Is his floor a premium platoon piece? (JT Smooth from Other side of the pillow) | It won't be unless he cuts down on the strikeouts. His floor is essentially Matt Joyce. (Bret Sayre) |
2015-02-13 19:00:00 (link to chat) | Who are a couple hitters and pitchers you see breaking out this year? Thoughts on Bogaerts? (Jobu from Cerrano's locker) | I like George Springer coming through and meeting a lot of the potential/hype we were looking at last year. Oswaldo Arcia is a boom/bust proposition this year, but if he can even get the average to .250 there is a lot of power there. For pitchers, I think Zack Wheeler takes a big step forward this year and I also like Drew Smyly joining Cobb as a big impact guy for the Rays.
I'm closer to Ben Carsley on Bogaerts than I am to the negative nellies. I see some improvement this year, with 15-17 home runs and a .260-.270 average a realistic expectation. I agree with Ben and think the breakout comes in 2016 or 2017. (Mike Gianella) |
2015-01-28 19:00:00 (link to chat) | One hitter and one pitcher you think will breakout this year? (Shawnykid23 from CT) | Oswaldo Arcia and Carlos Martinez (Mauricio Rubio) |
2014-09-15 19:30:00 (link to chat) | Which minor league players are most likely to start in the American League in 2015 that are either flying under the radar or have not been brought up.
Thanks! (Cinco bros from AZ) | For players who haven't come up yet, how about Rusney Castillo, Francisco Lindor, Chi Chi Gonzalez, Miguel Sano and Kyle Zimmer. For guys who are just under the radar, let's go with Nick Franklin, Mike Foltynewicz, Dylan Bundy, Drew Pomeranz, Daniel Norris and Oswaldo Arcia. (Ben Carsley) |
2014-09-10 12:00:00 (link to chat) | Thanks for the great chats!! You guys always have thoughtful comments!! Do you think Oswaldo Arcia will become a middle of the order hitter or is he too impatient with too much swing and miss? (Mike from Minneapolis) | Thanks for reading them.
I love Arcia, although I think it's more of a reserved love. His impatience is just a part of his game. The power impact is always going to be there, but so are the whiffs. He's a good example of a player you need to take the bad with the good. (Tucker Blair) |
2014-08-25 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Oswaldo Arcia looks like a power hitting stud some days and other days it looks like he can't see the ball. What's your opinion of his upside potential? Thanks for the chat!! You guys are the best!! (Mike from Minneapolis) | Somebody on Twitter put it best the other day: I just think he has to stop swinging so hard/ for the fences with every at bat. I could see a 30 HR/.250 guy but I could also see someone who flames out and never does much more than a .210 BA with a lot of strikeouts. (Mike Gianella) |
2014-07-24 19:00:00 (link to chat) | Does Oswaldo Arcia worth holding onto long term in my dynasty league? Have Stephen Piscotty, Nick Williams, Raimel Tapia and Yasmani Tomas waiting in the wings. (Drew from Rockford, IL) | I would have Arcia over Yasmani, but the OFers you have coming through are all making a big push this year. He's on the fringe for me. (Mauricio Rubio) |
2014-06-26 14:00:00 (link to chat) | Thanks for the chat!! Do you think Oswaldo Arcia will ever solve major league pitching?? (Mike from Minneapolis ) | I adore Oswaldo Arcia. Yes. One of my personal favorites. (J.P. Breen) |
2014-06-26 14:00:00 (link to chat) | Oswaldo Arcia or Orlando Arcia? GO! (BeerTheDeer from Milwaukee) | Oswaldo. I like that Orlando can play a legitimate shortstop, but the bat is still a question mark. I think Oswaldo Arcia can hit major-league pitching and be a 20+ homer guy. The defense is a question mark, but I'll take the stick. (J.P. Breen) |
2014-05-27 11:30:00 (link to chat) | What's your outlook for Oswaldo Arcia the rest of the way? (holmesp2001 from St. Louis) | The K rate is concerning, and so is the whiff rate, but I think he'll get those things under control. As I said before, hitters hit. He can really mash, and has some pop. Could be looking at a .280 guy with 50+ XBH. He's got a classic corner OF profile. (Jordan Gorosh) |
2014-06-17 20:00:00 (link to chat) | Thanks for the chat!! What's your evaluation of Oswaldo Arcia?? Does he have the patience to hit major league pitching? (Jim from Minneapolis) | Thanks, thoughtful reader! We're moderate Arcia fans in many formats, but Scoresheet is not a format particularly forgiving of corner outfielders who are not elite. Arcia is definitely a standard keeper, and he's probably somewhat underrated in real life, but he's probably not a foundational player for your team. (Scoresheet Chat with Ben, Jared, and Ian) |
2014-03-24 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Who do you like best as a 3rd OFer in 2014:
Khris Davis, Oswaldo Arcia, Will Venable (Alex from Chicago) | Venable, Davis, Arcia for me (Paul Sporer) |
2014-03-21 14:00:00 (link to chat) | Tell us all that you know about Oswaldo Arcia. Im looking for a book. (Kevin from Philadelphia) | Ha, I don't have that much time! He's part of Minnesota's present and future lineup. Regular, everyday outfielder that is going to hit the ball for average and power. He was rushed last season, and is ready to go now. (Ronit Shah) |
2014-01-29 19:00:00 (link to chat) | Does the Twins signing Kubel drastically impact Oswaldo Arcia, or does Oswaldo still get the majority of RF at bats? (brukru from Pittsford, MI) | If it does, you have every right to march down to Target Field and storm the front office. Arcia could be their No. 5 hitter for a decade. Kubel is nearly done. I like his beard though. (Ben Carsley) |
2014-01-21 18:00:00 (link to chat) | Hello Mike
With an OF J-Up Cargo Bruce who do you feel is the better for the 4 OF K,Davis or Oswaldo.? And what there upside. (jim from tampa) | Of the two I feel like Oswaldo Arcia has more reliability but Khris Davis has more upside. I think I would go with the better prospect/long term player in Arcia and hope that Davis' hot numbers in a small sample size were fluky. The exception might be in a one-and-done (redraft league). (Mike Gianella) |
2014-01-10 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Power-hitting prospects Marcell Ozuna and Oswaldo Arcia didn't really do very much last year, and now they find themselves in outfields that are filling up. Do either of them step up and claim a spot in 2014? (RotoLando from Cloud City) | Ozuna shouldn't have been in MLB last year, and frankly, I'm not sure he's ready to be this year. I think he can grab a spot in 2015. Arcia should have a spot and should be let to develop in that spot this year while the Twins aren't really in contention. (Mark Anderson) |
2014-01-10 13:00:00 (link to chat) | What do you see in Khris Davis and Oswaldo Arcia are they the hitter everyone says he is we just have very little to go by?
(OB1quigon from Tampa) | I don't expect Davis to mash long term. I think he can be a useful piece for the Brewers, but not a centerpiece. Arcia can rake and I expect him to hit and hit a lot for a long time. (Mark Anderson) |
2013-11-19 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Please rank: Avisail Garcia, Oswaldo Arcia, Marcell Ozuna? (Felipe from Mexico) | Arcia, gap, Garcia, Ozuna. (Bret Sayre) |
2013-09-27 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Would you call Oswaldo Arcia's 2013 a success, failure, or something in between? What did we learn? (Jim from Fargo) | I think it was an absolute success. At 22-years old he proved he had nothing left to do in the minor leagues and got nearly 100 games in the big leagues to make adjustments, learn and prepare for when the Twins will actually need him to be a centerpiece in their lineup. What did we learn? I think we learned he is going to hit, show good power and be a quality MLB player overall; it just takes time and doesn't always happen instantaneously. (Mark Anderson) |
2013-07-29 11:00:00 (link to chat) | What kind of offensive ceiling would you put on Oswaldo Arcia in this prime? (richardkr34 from Saint Paul, MN) | .290 with 23 HR. (Zach Mortimer) |
2013-06-20 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Is Oswaldo Arcia worth stashing on a 10 team dynasty? (Shawn from CT) | Maybe with really big rosters, otherwise that's a little small for him. (Paul Sporer) |
2013-06-13 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Does Oswaldo Arcia have 30 HR potential or his his ceiling closer to 20 HR? (Twinkie from Minneapolis) | Split the difference and say 25. (Jason Cole) |
2013-01-22 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Chances these outfielders will have starting jobs by the middle of May:
Oswaldo Arcia ____
Jackie Bradley ____
Shane Peterson ____
Trayce Thompson ____ (Hoot Stromboli from Snowed In) | Hoot, I can't place percentages on each. I think Thompson is the most likely because the White Sox always seem aggressive with their prospects. I would put Peterson next-if only because I think an injury to Beltran could happen and it's too early for OSCAR-then Bradley and finally Arcia. (R.J. Anderson) |
2012-11-15 14:00:00 (link to chat) | Hey Derek, thanks for the fantasy fix. Which OF prospect is the better fantasy prospect: Rymer Liriano or Oswaldo Arcia? (captnamerca from FL) | Liriano is more well-rounded and has the higher fantasy upside of the two. Both could be good hitters with above-average power, but Liriano's speed gives him the edge. (Derek Carty) |
2012-01-18 13:00:00 (link to chat) | If you had Oswaldo Arcia, Gary Brown an Jake Marisnick which one would you trade for a serviceable pitcher? (John from MS) | If you have to let one good prospect go, all else being equal, trade the corner guy and keep the up-the-middle players. Arcia it is.--Ben (Best of BP with Ben and Dave) |
2011-05-09 13:00:00 (link to chat) | Your view on Oswaldo Arcia, is he just babip lucky? (bk from Hk) | No, he's not just lucky. He can really hit. I'm a big fan of the bat, but it's overwhelmingly his best tool. (Kevin Goldstein) |
