2012-03-23 12:00:00 (link to chat)What should my beer of choice be for Sunday's Fantasy baseball League of Ireland auction? I'm thinking Smithwick's. (yes this is a serious question - such things can decide the fate of a fantasy franchise!)
(Andy McGeady from Dublin, Ireland)
Excellent choice - just practice moderation so you don't end up paying $10 for Brent Morel in an auction as I did in LABR (Jason Collette)
2012-03-23 12:00:00 (link to chat)Miggie. With my draft Sunday, I am worried he could not be 3B elig. until the end of April. Who is a good late round 3B to draft in case Miggie misses time?
(chiefsalsa from Utah)
Brent Morel or Ty Wigginton for cheap power. Hopefully, you'll only need them 2-3 weeks. I like Morel, but we're also talking about a guy with one good month in his entire career. (Jason Collette)
2012-01-20 14:00:00 (link to chat)Thanks, Kevin. How much chance is there Brent Morel maintains the gains he made over the last couple of months last year? I saw him in KC in July, and he got his second walk of the year. Then in August he started walking more, hitting more, and hitting for more power. Great, if it wasn't a mirage.
(GrinnellSteve from Grinnell)
I think he'll be better, but I think his ceiling is a second-division starter. (Kevin Goldstein)
2011-03-08 14:00:00 (link to chat)Brent Morel or Mark Teahan? Also who do you think ends up as fourth OF for White Sox? I am thinking Lastings Milledge might be a choice.
(bfitzge3 from Upstate NY)
Teahen will likely share time between 3B, RF (whenever Quentin is hurt) and DH, but he's a pretty ordinary player, so Morel should get a fair shot to win the 3B job outright. As far as Milledge goes, I've been a big fan for a long time, and I'm not convinced he can't do a reasonable Alex Rios impression one of these days, at least offensively. I mean that as a compliment... in other words, he'd be an excellent fourth OF. (Cory Schwartz)
2011-02-08 14:00:00 (link to chat)Hey Ken: Looking at possible "sleeper" prospects. Do any of the following have a chance to make a n impact this season or next? How would you rank them?: Brent Morel, Brett Laurie, Zack Cox, and Jared Goedert. Thanks for the pre-preseason chat.
(Dan46S from Boston)
Career value ranking for me would be: Lawrie, (gap), Cox, Morel, Goedert. But in the short term, Morel is the most likely to help this year since he has the inside track on the 3b job, though I bet Lawrie will be playing in Toronto in 2012. Cox is some distance away and scouts don't seem to like him, and I'm not sure if the things he does help you in fantasy baseball as much as they do in real baseball. Goedert may have a shot at playing time this year but I don't think that much of him, and Chisenhall is the long-term answer. (Ken Funck)
