2016-01-21 19:00:00 (link to chat)Any chance michael lorenzen gets a shot at the closers job?
(Katie from Natti)
Nope. Out of 141 starters who threw 100 innings last season, Lorenz ranked dead-last in DRA (6.42). A move to the pen seems inevitable, especially given the pitching prospects the Reds added in the second half of last year. At least for the immediate future, J.J. Hoover and Jumbo Diaz will get the first shot to close. (George Bissell)
2013-05-29 18:30:00 (link to chat)What's going on? In a yahoo league rotisserie standard 8 team league. Standard starters with a utility player. We use 2 SP,2RP 3P in general. I really need to make a couple of adjustments. Need to add another pitcher and solid bar to this line up. This league is tough with trades! so would need to rely on the waivers Who should we ditch and is there anyone we should be tracking or picking up? Here is the squad...Here is the squad... Hey coach.

It's always difficult to answer a full blown roster question without having access to everyone else's roster and teams. Generally speaking, your offense looks strong, although in a shallow league under performing players like Weeks should probably be shown the door. On the pitching side, I think that Lincecum is a weak play for an eight-team mixed format. None of the free agents stand out, but Aoki could arguably be added to your squad. (Mike Gianella)
2013-04-03 14:00:00 (link to chat)Thoughts on J.J. Hoover?
(grandslam28 from Chicago)
I like him just a tiny bit less than I like John Axford (Sam Miller)
2013-02-27 20:00:00 (link to chat)Any of these guys worth a look in an NL only 4x4 standard league? Trevor Rosenthal, Tony Cingrani, Arodys Vizcaino, Christian Garcia, J.J. Hoover, or Sam Lecure.
(Johnny T from The Hills)
Rosenthal is definitely worth a $2-3 bid in NL-only. His stuff is legitimate and even if he's only a set-up man, his Ks mean that he could put up sneaky $10-12 value. (Mike Gianella)
2013-01-22 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thanks for the chat. Do you think the Aroldis Chapman experiment will work? He seemed to be too valuable closing out games. What are you thoughts on some sneaky good RP's like Tony Cingrani and J.J. Hoover in Cincinnati?
(Rockford from Flowmont)
A year ago I would've said no on Chapman starting because of his control woes. He seemed to improve on that aspect and if it sticks then I'd say he's got a chance. I haven't seen much of Cingrani-though he sounds like someone who could help now-but Hoover is a nice arm that got buried in Atlanta because others had higher ceilings. (R.J. Anderson)
2012-07-20 13:00:00 (link to chat)Ive recently acquired joey votto in a ss league and been offered jj and zimmermann. what are your thoughts for jj in the second half.
(j from some yankee town)
Depends on who J.J. is. If it's Putz, I think he'll improve a little but not enough to be interesting. If it's Hardy, he also is capable of better things. If it's Josh Johnson, same thing, but with perpetual injury risk. Who else is there? J.J. Hoover. Jon Jay. Jair Jurrjens. John Jaso. Jim Johnson. I'm not getting warm and fuzzy about any of these guys. So I guess it doesn't depend on who J.J. is. Good chance of small improvement, but nothing exciting. I wouldn't trade Votto for Zimmermann and anyone with the initials J.J. (Geoff Young)
