2020-03-06 13:00:00 (link to chat)Always scrounging for filling out the team. Based on ADP I see the following players undervalued by the market, your thoughts? Alex Dickerson, Anthony Santander, Nicky Lopez, Hanser Alberto, Miguel Rojas, Brandon Belt, Adam Frazier (ugh), Victor Reyes, Avisail Garcia, Leury Garcia, Mauricio Dubon, Nomar Mazara, and why not Josh Donaldson?
(pauls121 from Madison)
Based on ADP, I like Mazara (of course) and Donaldson. I am not in on the others mostly due to lack of impact offensive ability (Lopez, Alberto, Rojas, Frazier, Reyes, L. Garcia), lack of consistent playing time (Dickerson, Avisail Garcia, Mauricio Dubon), and simply proper pricing of the talent (Santander and Belt). (Jesse Roche)
2020-01-15 13:00:00 (link to chat)Whitesox have alot of high upside guys that haven't really proven anything and are counting on 3 or 4 guys who only have 1 year of being plus regulars. What has to break right for them to be in the playoffs?
(spotted cow from Rockford)
As much as I like what they've done (and I think it's similar to the Reds, a bit, in this way) they're really pretty thin overall. I think more than anything they're going to need health. Madrigal and Robert are going to have to be productive, if not stars, and as much as I may like Leury Garcia, he's really their only viable depth piece if someone goes down. Engel is only a glove, Collins is limited to 1B/DH (I mean, sure, backup C but Grandal/McCann will be there mostly). Then you're talking...Danny Mendick? Not great. (Craig Goldstein)
2020-01-13 13:00:00 (link to chat)How long before ChiSox 2B prospect Nick Madrigal entrenches himself on the South Side? Any rookie projections for 2020?
(ironcityguys from daBurgh)
Madrigal is a polished college bat, a top-five pick that hit almost .340 in the upper minors last year. If you have designs on competing, you should probably just start him Opening Day over Leury Garcia. I'd expect the White Sox to keep him down for the clawback. I'm very curious to see how this plays out and I imagine he's a difficult projection given the uniquely high contact rate. (AL Central Top 10 Chat)
2017-10-12 20:00:00 (link to chat)Our "More surprising Garcia" question back in July spurred some pretty heated debate. Now that the season is done, the answer was pretty definitively Avisail, right?
(cowhitchurch from Austin, TX)
if Leury Garcia stays healthy and posts an .800 OPS with good defense in CF is it still, though? Leury was also coming from a worse baseline. (Nick Schaefer)
2017-09-21 13:00:00 (link to chat)With It being reported that Nicky Delmonico is getting cortisone shots in his wrist, why not just shut him down for the year?
(Kevin from Chicago)
I'm comfortable deferring to the White Sox' medical / training staff. If they don't think it's going to make the injury worse, then he might as well get the reps while it's September rosters and guys like Avisail and Leury Garcia are on the DL and there are plenty of OF at bats to go around. I suspect more players are getting cortisone shots than we hear about. (Nick Schaefer)
2017-04-11 19:00:00 (link to chat)Who will be the White Sox All-Star rep in 2017 and why will it be Leury Garcia?
(Beeps Lover from Manhattan)
The White Sox are the weirdest rebuilding team ever because they haven't finished selling and they're still littered with All Star-type guys. Given that a ton of pitchers initially selected back out and need replacement due to injury or timing of the game, pretty much any plus pitcher on the team is a candidate to go--Nate Jones, David Robertson, Jose Quintana if he's still on the team. Rodon starting on the DL probably rules him out.

Position player wise, 1B is stacked, but Jose Abreu should be a worthy candidate. Anderson could break out, Frazier has done it before...

So what I'm trying to say is Avisail Garcia. (Nick Schaefer)
2014-01-10 13:00:00 (link to chat)How does Leury Garcia have a plus arm given his size?
(Brad from Bean Town)
Arm strength knows no bounds. Some guys can just let it fly thanks to arm speed and the way their anatomy works. Dixon Machado is about as thick as a #2 pencil and when he unleashes a throw it's like a freakin' carnival ride; you just sit back and say "Weeeeee!" Some guys are just blessed with the ability to chuck it. (Mark Anderson)
2013-08-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)Hi Jason. Shouldn't the Cubs have done better than C.J. Edwards and Leury Garcia for Garza? Since the Cubs braintrust knows what they're doing can you describe the ceilings of Edwards and Garcia. Thanks
(mmcd from ottawa)
I...think you're confused. The Cubs got Edwards, Mike Olt, Justin Grimm, and at least one (potentially two) PTBNL for Garza. That's one hell of a haul for less than half a season of Garza. Leury Garcia is a White Sox. (Jason Cole)
2013-04-04 11:00:00 (link to chat)Are there any good underdog prospects like Jose Altuve or Tim Collins were? Guys that get second-guessed because of their size but keep on producing.
(Dobbs from Delaware)
The Rangers have two on the major league roster right now: utility man Leury Garcia and reliever Joe Ortiz. Both are very small humans. (Jason Parks)
2013-03-21 13:00:00 (link to chat)Any word on what the Padres offered Porcello?
(padremurph from San Diego)
There haven't been many specifics, padremurph, but we do know that the Tigers asked the Rangers about Leury Garcia and Nick Tepesch, so it sounds as though infield and pitching prospects are at the top of their wishlist. The Padres have no shortage of the latter, with one of the deepest systems in the league. (Daniel Rathman)
