2014-04-29 13:00:00 (link to chat)Any chance Brandon Beechy or Cory Luebke can bounce back and be any good after their second tjs or are their careers over?
(scott from az)
I wouldn't say their careers are over. I hope for their sakes (and ours) that they bounce back. I couldn't give you odds on either of them doing so, however. (R.J. Anderson)
2013-06-11 14:00:00 (link to chat)Do you think there is any connection with how many of this year's high profile TJ surgery class have had significant setbacks - Ryan Madson, Daniel Hudson, Cory Luebke, Scott Baker?
(Scott from LA)
Given that this spans four teams, I think it's coincidental. I could be swayed with some evidence, but I just haven't seen anything to suggest otherwise. (Daniel Rathman)
2013-04-15 13:00:00 (link to chat)How long does Josh Byrnes wait before he takes steps to fix his rotation?
(Gregorio from Londres)
Hi Gregorio, thanks for the question. The biggest problem Byrnes faces is that there isn't any real way to fix the rotation. Edwin Jackson, Shaun Marcum, and the rest all signed elsewhere, leaving the Padres with Jason Marquis. At some point maybe Cory Luebke, Tim Stauffer, and Robbie Erlin can help, but not now. (Geoff Young)
2013-04-03 14:00:00 (link to chat)Who would you rather have in keeper league? Dan Hudson or Cory Luebke? what if their prices are $1 & $7?
(grandslam28 from Chicago)
Hudson, unless Hudson is the 7 and Luebke is the 1. If they're the same cost, Hudson. (Sam Miller)
2013-02-26 14:00:00 (link to chat)M.Pineda - worth a stash in fantasy? Any hope he comes on to pitch mid-year 2013?
(Al from Boston)
In a redraft league, I'd consider Pineda as a late-round flier that you could stash on your DL and hope for the best. We recently heard that he's ahead of schedule and actually threw a 25-pitch (all-fastball) session the other day, so there is upside here. On the other hand, recovery from a labrum tear is difficult to project, so if you're inclined to gamble on a pitcher coming back from injury, someone like Danny Duffy or Cory Luebke (both Tommy John surgery victims) might be a better bet. (Daniel Rathman)
2012-09-05 14:00:00 (link to chat)In your eyes, which teams took the best strides towards future success in 2012? Can any make a surprise run at a division or wild card spot in 2013?
(Steve from New York, NY)
The Orioles are the obvious answer in the AL, and even if they don't make it this year, they should hang around in 2013, with Manny Machado benefitting from the experience and Dylan Bundy topping the rotation. Zach Britton's health and effectiveness will be a big factor.

In the NL, I'm probably a year too soon with this, but don't sleep on the Padres. They've shown flashes over the past few weeks, and there's a lot of talent both on the major-league team and coming up through the pipeline, not to mention Cory Luebke and Tim Stauffer, who should help the rotation. It's an increasingly competitive division, but a couple of breakout seasons could pave the way for a second-place finish and a shot at one of the wild-card spots. (Daniel Rathman)
2012-01-10 13:00:00 (link to chat)Any "sophomores" you like to break out this season
(moehk21 from NYC)
I like Ben Revere, Eric Thames, Lucas Duda, Cory Luebke, Danny Duffy, Henderson Alvarez all to various degrees. (Derek Carty)
2011-07-21 16:00:00 (link to chat)What are the odds Cory Luebke remains a viable mixed league SP option for the rest of the year?
(buddons42 from Detroit)
He threw 131 innings last season and is only half-way there this season so burnout shouldn't be a problem. The WHIP will come up a bit, but I don't see why he can't maintain his other skills the rest of the way. (Jason Collette)
