(spotted cow from Rockford)		This is an excellent question. Several players are under suspension, including Domingo German (63 games) and Michael Pineda (39 games), entering the season. A shortened season clearly lessens their impact if the suspensions are not reduced. I have not heard anything suggesting the suspensions will be reduced. In fact, I imagine they will not. MLB normally takes a hard line on suspensions so I would plan for all suspensions to remain in full force and effect.

Meanwhile, MLB and the players' union are in discussions regarding other important items impacted by the delayed and shortened season, such as service time in a shortened season. Normally, a full year of service is 172 days. A normal season is 187 days. Hence, teams wait until mid-April, or at least 15 days, to call up top prospects to prevent a year of service. A shortened season may, for example, only be 120 days. MLB teams will want to reduce the amount of days for a year of service from 172 in 2020 to, say, 105. Players will not want any changes of course. How service time shakes out will be an interesting development to follow. (Jesse Roche)

(Elton from Pacific Northwest)		Hi Elton - or whichever of your leaguemates this is! The good news about dynasty leagues is that you're never doomed the way you are in a redraft. It might take a while to rebuild but Moustakas and Mancini have been really good this year and Musgrove is starting to tap into some of that potential. Flip some of those guys to contenders to rebuild the system, draft well, and don't worry about being doomed. (Darius Austin)

I like Barreto's speed, even if he's not at shortstop long-term. Bell is the interesting one for me. Every time I saw him in person, I came away impressed. (George Bissell)

(DJ from Dallas )		Already talked about Gausman. I think Paxton might get squeezed out of a surprisingly deep Mariners rotation. Pineda's already good, Gibson kind of is what he is at this point, as is Kelly, who in a just world would've moved to the bullpen full-time two years ago.
That leaves Perez, whom I've always been down on compared to what appears to be the consensus, and Norris, whom I like to bounce back if only because he's got an open rotation spot in Detroit, to say nothing of it being unlikely that he receives a surprise cancer diagnosis this year. I'll very hesitantly take Miller>Duffy. I think the Braves can refine his mechs a bit, and get his CB back to a strike out pitch. Duffy has yet to do it for a full season yet, but I do think he has slightly higher upside, lower floor. (Jordan Gorosh)

The Mets have superb young pitching, but lack any depth of hitting talent- after Duda and Murphy, what is there? As for the Yankees, I can't see them as anything other than Oakland-East, in the absence of any upcoming talent. Where is the Jeter in this system? What do you suggest?
(BeplerP from New York, NY)		I can't remember who said this, it may have been Ben Lindbergh, but the Yankees have a fairly simple path to returning to relevance: sign all of the good players. I think Hanley Ramirez is Bronx-bound this offseason, as is one of the better starting pitchers on the market. They'll need more from Brian McCann than they got this year, but a turnaround doesn't seem THAT unlikely. Provided Masahiro Tanaka and Michael Pineda stay healthy in 2015, they'll contend.

As for the Mets, it all comes down to how much they want to spend on free agents. David Wright should bounce back, and I like Dilson Herrera a lot. If Matt Harvey comes back healthy, there's a lot to like here, too. (Daniel Rathman)

I have an open roster spot I want to fill with another starter to give me a shot at competing in QS. I figure I might as well grab another long shot starter to join Gray and Pineda. I have it narrowed down to Danny Salazar, Jose Quintana, Taijuan Walker, or Roenis Elias. Who's my best bet?

If you're truly just going for QS, I guess I'd go Quintana. I like Salazar a bit more overall, though, even if he's overrated. Walker's injury scares me now, so I'm staying away. (Ben Carsley)

There's no way to tell what to expect with him after so much downtime, and you certainly can't bank on him to lead a rotation. I absolutely loved Pineda when he came up and feel like I was one of the early internet prospect guys in on him (humblebrag), but I don't know what to think now. I got two offers for my 1-1 pick which would be tanaka. Edwin Encarnacion and the 9th pick in the draft or my 1-1 and Michael Pineda for Cano and a reliever or something. Which is the better offer?
(Connor from Alaska)		The first offer (Encarnacion and the pick) is better. EE is pretty close to the top first basemen in the majors while that nine pick should be pretty sweet, even in a keeper. Robinson Cano is obviously really good but I feel like you're getting a 2 for 1 with the first deal and a 1-for-1 with the second one. (Mike Gianella)

(The minor league guy from Illinois)		The Yankees just activated Pineda from the DL a month ago after the guy was shelved for 18 months, so it could take awhile. Pitchers can be very slow coming back from shoulder injuries, especially with respect to velocity and regaining strength around the joint. The Yanks need help, but the last thing they want to do is rush Pineda back and risk re-injury. At least Montero has been a flop in Seattle, in the challenge trade that broke hearts on both sides.

The leagues uses LF/CF/RF over OF, and has deep pitching requirements. The manager I proposed this to has McCutchen in CF, Jones is his DH. He has nobody at SS currently (my backup is Segura). He proposes back Robinson Cano, Starlin Castro, and Ian Kennedy for Adam Jones, Neil Walker, Jason Vargas, and Michael Pineda. I'm not off my game when I say this guy is one suit short of a full deck, am I?

Pineda would be great for me because a) his youth/talent makes him a great fit for my young/high ceiling team; and b) He's a potential 2nd half add that I can stash on my DL through the majority of the season. If I am buying, what's a fair offer for him in general (I know rosters would help here, no can do!). If you own Pineda, what are you asking for? Are you selling, or holding?

You of all people I don't need to tell about the inherent riskiness of pitchers, but as I said before I think Pineda will come back strong. If I were in, say, a Strat league, I'd hang onto him. Unless you'd rather trade him for, oh, I dunno, Matt Capps. (Ken Funck)

I think Pineda is a definite freeze, and Chapman is a guy to let go (unless it's a very deep league and your other options aren't that intriguing). Hanson is a keep unless you have some overwhelmingly good options, because if he's healthy, he's excellent, and he'll have had a lot of time to rest up. (Derek Carty)

(Touch em all Joe from Toronto)		Pineda vs. Moore is a tough one, and you can't go wrong either way (though in Strat I'd take Pineda, avoiding Moore's incipient leftiness). Gun to my head I pick Pineda, since pitching in Seattle should really help his raw numbers. Machado is more valuable than Lawrie if he can stick at shortstop. If he moves to third base -- well, I STILL think he's likely more valuable than Lawrie in the long run. (Ken Funck)
