2009-06-08 14:00:00 (link to chat)Should the Braves do to Francouer what the Indians did to Carmona by sending him to rookieball and start all over. I think Brandon Jones could come up and outproduce him right now.
(Mike from Utica,NY)
A demotion didn't have much effect last time, and if I remember correctly, wasn't received well by the player. I'm on record, a little more than a year ago, as being bullish on Francouer. At this point, though, he's a failed player. The Braves have to get him out of the lineup and replace him with someone who advances the cause. They're not developing a prospect any longer. (Joe Sheehan)
2009-05-18 14:00:00 (link to chat)Any way to fix the Braves OF situation? The way I see it, they don't have a single outfielder who should be playing every day right now, and at least one who shouldn't be playing at the major league level.
(Matt A from Raleigh)
Stick with the commitment to Schafer, because that's been made and should be worthwhile. I'd play Brandon Jones, because I never got as down on him because of his Triple-A funk last season as some people did; there's your left-field platoon, with Diaz. The problem's really still Frenchy, and Garret Anderson's not really a fix there, even in a platoon. (Christina Kahrl)
2008-07-30 12:30:00 (link to chat)What are the odd that the Braves acquire Jason Bay from Pittsburgh? Do you know any of the names being tossed around that would go back to the Buccos in a deal like this?
(Jorge from Atlanta)
The Braves have been offering Brent Lillibridge and Brandon Jones but the Pirates want a third high-end propsect. (John Perrotto)
2008-07-24 13:00:00 (link to chat)What direction do you see the Braves going at the deadline? Will they be able to get anything close to what they gave up for Teixeira in return for him a year later? And how do you see their outfield dilemma shaking out?
(abernethyj from Chapel Hill, NC)
I think I'm in a very different place than, say, Joe's been, in that I've been off the bandwagon for a bit. I think it's long since time to recognize that 2005 was a while ago, and there are too many things wrong to be able to fix them all. Best that they see about whether or not anyone will take Kotsay, plug Blanco in as their center fielder, and bring back Brandon Jones. (Christina Kahrl)
2008-06-13 14:00:00 (link to chat)In your opinion, what should the Braves do with their outfield the rest of the way? I'd really like to see Brandon Jones get a shot, but he's not doing himself any favors right now.
(Josh from Providence)
Just feel like they need more power out there and I don't know that can supply above average power. Bob Cox team has never been out homered since '91 and this team is built more for Weaver ball than small ball and they don't get the 3 run homer enough. (Jon "Boog" Sciambi)
2008-02-28 14:00:00 (link to chat)Do you see Matt Diaz being effective if given regular at-bats against LHPs and RHPs, or is all his value connected to only starting against southpaws? A connected question - who do you see receiving more major league at-bats this season, Brandon Jones or Josh Anderson?
(abernethyj from Chapel Hill, NC)
If the Braves want to win ballgames, Brandon Jones, with Diaz remaining in the role he's best suited for, picking the rookie up against the league's tougher southpaws. (Christina Kahrl)
2008-02-28 14:00:00 (link to chat)How about 3 N.L. sleepers for '08? You pick the position.
(jromero from Seattle)
Hrm... the problem with the exercise is that it depends on what kind of audience you're talking to. I don't think of Brandon Jones as a sleeper, but in a wider audience, I suspect he's seen as such. I've mentioned Doumit in Pittsburgh as a prospective catcher. If Chad Tracy's knee is sound, he's going to remind people he's a very useful hitter, and not just in that ballpark. (Christina Kahrl)
