2013-04-16 20:00:00 (link to chat) | Do you expect Andrew Bailey to do a better job as interim closer than Mitchell Boggs is doing in St. Louis? (bobbygoode from Santa Monica CA) | Yes, but that's not saying much considering that Boggs doesn't look like the closer any more in STL. (Bret Sayre) |
2013-04-10 20:00:00 (link to chat) | So, who do you have finishing the season with the most saves for the Cubs, Cards and Brewers? thanks (Kevin from Boston) | For the Cubs, I would have to guess Kyuji Fujikawa. Carlos Marmol might get the job again, but he would probably be put in there to showcase him for a trade. Trevor Rosenthal isn't the closer now in St. Louis, but Mitchell Boggs has already struggled so if I'm going to guess, I'm going to guess the guy with the skills and the stuff. Milwaukee is a mystery to me. I thought John Axford would lose the job but had no idea it would happen so quickly. I would guess Jim Henderson, but he has some of the same control/command issues that Ax does/did. My sleeper in this pen is Brandon Kintzler, but I don't see Kintzler as having a path to the job at the moment. (Mike Gianella) |
2010-01-14 16:00:00 (link to chat) | What should the Cardinals do with the 5th starter spot behind Carp/Wainwright/Lohse/Penny? (Jake from St. Louis) | Mitchell Boggs likes ground balls (which is good, because he also likes walks). Brad Thompson likes GBs too, but doesn't like strikeouts. I don't see the point of signing a free agent to be your 5th starter, so put Boggs and Thompson in a cage, and whoever emerges with his arm still attached gets the ball on fifth day. (Russell A. Carleton) |
2010-01-14 16:00:00 (link to chat) | Thanks for answering my question, but Brad Thompson is in the Royals' organization now. So, I guess you're going with Mitchell Boggs as the 5th starter in STL? (Jake from St. Louis, MO) | This is what happens when you read Dr. Sears rather than Christina Kahrl's transaction column. (Russell A. Carleton) |
