2012-10-30 13:00:00 (link to chat)Any non-superstar/star-level players who could be non-tendered that teams should kick the tires on?
(jlarsen from chicago)
With the caveat that I did less than two seconds of research, some interesting names to me are Kyle Blanks, George Kottaras, Nyjer Morgan, Mark Reynolds, Brendan Ryan, Gaby Sanchez, Geovany Soto, Ian Stewart, Drew Stubbs, Dallas Braden, Philip Humber, Tommy Hunter, Jair Jurrjens, Mike Pelfrey, and Jerome Williams. (Geoff Young)
2012-01-26 13:00:00 (link to chat)Dallas Braden just got a tattoo of Rollie Fingers riding a dolphin under a rainbow. Your thoughts, please.
(Immanuel #Want from Prussia)
That's pretty cool. My friend has a tattoo of a stingray with a plate of fajitas on its back. (Jason Parks)
2012-01-10 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thanks for the chat as I'm ready to get amped up for the 2012 season. Rotation Q's for a deeper league: Do Tyson Ross and Kris Medlen have chances of carving out rolls with those rotations currently influx?
(Bringon2012 from Kansas)
Absolutely not to Medlen. He's good, but he'll need to prove he's recovered from TJ, and the Braves just have soooooo many options merely vying for the fifth spot (Minor, Teheran, Delgado, Vizcaino, etc.), most of which are now younger and more talented than Medlen. Medlen's probably 10th on their SP depth chart. Not a bad problem to have for a team, but for a Medlen owner it is. Ross has a slightly higher a chance, but the A's also brought in quite the haul of starter candidates this winter between Jarrod Parker, Brad Peacock, and Tom Milone, plus mainstays (while healthy) of Brett Anderson, Dallas Braden, Brandon McCarthy, and (to a lesser extent) Guillermo Moscoso. Then you have the usual Ross-esque fill-ins like Graham Godfrey and Josh Outman, so it'll be tough. (Derek Carty)
2011-04-25 13:00:00 (link to chat)Do the A's have the best rotation in baseball once you factor in the twittering capabilities of Brett Anderson, Brandon McCarthy, and Dallas Braden?
(Tom from Madison)
I would like to see the Phillies try to contend with the A's on Twitter. Roy Halladay's angry stares don't translate well into 140 character bursts, especially not up against Brandon McCarthy's sense of humor. (Marc Normandin)
2010-05-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)Jay - what has been most surprising to you this season? Both in terms of sustainability and non? Thanks for chatting!
(rawagman from Toronto)
Hmmm... just off the top of my head, I'm surprised that the Cardinals haven't clinched yet, that the Blue Jays and Nationals are off to strong if unsustainable starts, that it took so little time for the Dodgers' winter scrimping to be exposed, that the Mariners and Diamondbacks are as godawful as they are, and of course, that Dallas Braden threw a perfect game. (Jay Jaffe)
2009-12-09 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thanks for the chat....what kind of upside progress is possible and who has the highest peak among Dallas Braden, Brett Anderson, and Jeff Niemann? All young guys, Braden's yet to put together a full major league season...do any of them have #1/#2 potential?
(RZFanClub from DC)
Anderson's well ahead of the other two, and will pull down his share of Cy Young votes in his career. Neimann is a midrotation guy, and Braden is a back-end starter/swingman. (Joe Sheehan)
